How bad have we gotten when we fear Brentford are gunna finally relegate us?

    We're in the Championship. They're in the Championship. Aren't they allowed to be? Should smaller clubs not be allowed in the Championship? If so that becomes a problem for us I'm afraid.

    Not fear - it's what's going to happen. Our team is not fit for purpose and their future has been indicated by GG's remarks. For most of them this will be their last appearance at Oakwell. And that includes the head coach.

    Brentford are a good side, markedly better than us.

    They’ll be at least one division above us, they may even be playing Man City and Arsenal whilst we’re playing Accrington Stanley and Luton.

    We should aspire to achieve what they are - and Bournemouth, Brighton, Huddersfield. We probably won’t throw money at it in their ilk - so particularly Burnley. It can be done.

    For now we probably deserve to be third tier. We will have to build from there.

    Not really. Brentford are a good team and a club we should be aspiring to be like, they’ve done fantastically well to get where they are.

    I think the point being made is that when we beat Swansea to get promoted, Brentford also made the playoffs and were then relegated to the fourth division the following season. Whatever they have done since has seen them become a good, established championship side. We, on the other hand, have been relegated, promoted and look certain to be relegated again.

    Maybe not intentionally but it certainly had a sniff of the kind of entitlement and perceived superiority that the massives of sheffield and Leeds purvey.

    Good luck to Brentford, yes they’ve spent a lot, I eluded to that in my first post in the thread, but so do most. I’m not going to single a club out for doing things differently and succeeding just because we can’t or won’t.

    Exactly. We’ve tried to be smart and do things on the mega cheap and made an absolute cake and arse of it. This was coming ever since the fire sale in January 17. I’m not trying to diss Brentford at all but we should be the stronger more established second tier club out of the two but we never learn our lesson. The previous board have sold our second tier status away down the river. Hoping the new consortium don’t follow previous boards rinse and repeat flawed ‘ corner shop mentality’ plans now they have financial and marketing clout.

    I think it was born out of frustration at football in general, and how badly we've done business and pretty much snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

    The fact that it's Brentford today just highlights how poorly were doing compared to traditionally worse placed clubs.
