I wanted a wider area Yorkshire mayor... This feels like I'd just be voting for which limb I'd want breaking.
Jarvis wants that, doesn't he? I'm not in the region, so I could be wrong, but it appears from here that he's pro-Yorkshire rather than taking the Sheffield City Region stuff as seriously as he could. If you want a wider Yorkshire devolution deal then I think he'd be a good one to vote for.
Might be an idea to look through my post history before casting aspersions. I've explicitly stated on a number of occasions that I've got very little time for Dan Jarvis, and my feelings towards Labour are generally ambivalent. I haven't spent ten years carefully constructing a cover to get a Labour MP who I dislike elected to a part time job based a hundred miles away .
Jarvis has a problem. On his election papers he posted his address as 76 Marsham Road,,London, SW14DR which is Great Minster House in a new Barrett Development where two bedroomed flats will sell at £2.65 million.in his mayoral booklet Mr Jarvis has given his address as 200 Duke Street, Sheffield S2 5QQ, which is not a residential address but the side of the Labour Party's Sheffield HQ.
Ignore 36 Chambers. He used to post on here as GloriaStitts till he got banned. On his Facebook page he posts pro-Labour posts and then posts the complete opposite on sites like this. Have a look here http://www.diabolik.tv/forum/index.php where he posts as Tinny. He lives near me and is the local clown.
Falls for what exactly ? It’s a fact that Dan Jarvis is taking the mandate to wind down the imposed South Yorkshire mayor to champion a Yorkshire wide deal.
He once tried to make out he was championing women’s rights in a debate on here s few years ago under gloria stitts ,you couldn’t make it up in monty python sketch the dross he came out with
What’s happening is this: The Tories want a South Yorkshire mayor because they know if South Yorkshire was included in a wider Yorkshire mayor vote then they would swing the vote in favour of Labour. The Tories in places like Harrogate would hate to be governed by a Labour mayor. So the Tories are trying to keep the largely Labour vote locked in South Yorkshire. Dan knows that a South Yorkshire mayor won’t be allowed much money and power - but a Yorkshire mayor would be. That’s why he wants to get rid ASAP of the South Yorkshire mayors role.
Yes I agree with that A wider Yorkshire deal would force a better deal from govt and would imo be shared out more fairly as the smaller towns and cities would outvote a Sheffield or Leeds central deal . Weve already seen how Sheffield hives off most investment to our region and the supertram fiasco which we in south York’s are still paying for.
No - Your choice is whether you prefer your money to be used to to have Sheffields roads fixed or Leeds roads fixed. At no point do Barnsley's roads get fixed - except the ones that go through Barnsley that connect Sheffield to Leeds.
Jo Coburn has just said on Election 2018 programme on BBC 2, that "Dan Jarvis has not won the vote on first preference for SY Mayor. not yet."!
I wouldn't listen tTory TV for a fair assessment..tbh I doubt anyone voted for Jarvis Britain Elects @britainelects Sheffield City Region first preferences: Lab: 47.9% Con: 14.7% LDem: 10.6% York: 8.9% Grn: 7.9% EDem: 5.7% [Oth]: 4.2%
