Presumably you are referring to our new Manager.? As far as I'm concerned, we had little or no chance of getting a result today. The backroom team probably know our best eleven , so decided to rest some of our players for the game against Norwich City on Tuesday. We really do have to go for the jugular now and stop conceding stupid goals by failing to close the space down. We might not be as good as some our opponents, but we have to make up for our shortcomings in skill by lifting our tempo and literally scrapping for every single ball. We are getting away with it for now, but it's inevitable that the tide will turn for some of our rivals between Tuesday and the end of the season.
Perhaps the travelling support should be advised that we're only off to Boro to make up the numbers then.
You will have noted that we gave the second in the league a good game and could have come away with the something that you might have missed.
We are running out of games to stay up, so he can't afford to chalk any off to experiment in. His record as a head coach is poor and he's zero experience of championship football. It was a strange appointment but let's just hope he proves us wrong.
By that token then a team takes nothing from any game they've just played. Perhaps we should line up today's team, shoot them, and pick another for Tuesday.
The point is that its not cut and dry that he should persist with some people's perceived "best" team, given they lost. Do you agree?
It's a well documented and widely held belief in footballing circles that playing well after being tonked for 45 minutes should not be relied on for future performances - its easy to start trying when its too late and the other team are not playing the same game, so playing well against Cardiff for the second half from 2-0 down really counts for sod all mate, end of story.
It’s pretty cut and dry that on paper Norwich at home compared to Boro away is the better chance of getting 3 points. So if our manager feels he needs to utilize the squad by leaving some out today in preparation for Tuesday then it makes sense to me.
Playing well against Cardiff in the second half and scoring 2 goals thereby might have helped the points on the board. Might have happened. It wasn't too late to try was it? I am sorry but your argument is to me squidgy . It works upon the premise that footballers are robots. They are not. To my own cost, I have seen games change from minute to minute, never mind half to half. For various reasons, explicable or otherwise. Perhaps, by way of example, recently Man U were 2-0 down to Palace. They played well second half. Does that not count?
2.6 percent of premier league games where the team takes a 2-0 lead wind up losing that game. Mourinho: It was a difficult match for me because my team made so many mistakes. We played very good quality football in the second half but we made so many defensive mistakes. I don't like my teams to lose their organisation like we did. That disgraceful, childish second goal changed everything. ========= A 2 in a hundred game come back - great example.
Perhaps I didnt put my thoughts across very well and I apologise for that. I didn't mean to imply that Jose had deliberately fielded a team that he knew would not give a good account of themselves. Football is all about opinions and when I first saw our starting eleven, I wondered why he was starting with Cavare instead of Yiadom, who thus far has been one of our most consistent performers. Some of his selections " might" have been forced upon him due to niggly knocks- who knows.? Also, the players that featured, might have shown up well in training during the week.? Hence the inclusion of Hedges in deference to Thiam and the re - instatement of Isgrove to the match day squad. Allied to our performance teams observations at the KCom stadium today and what our Head Coach and his colleagues saw at Middlesbrough today, they probably already have an idea of their best eleven and the bench that they name for Tuesday's game. The Coaching team have now had sufficient time to assess each players strengths and weaknesses and it's about time that the players rewarded with a shirt repay the trust that's being shown in them, by leaving absolutely nothing out on the pitch every single time, they take to the pitch.
Our poor run started under Hecky after leaving out players against Cardiff before we laiked Leeds in the next game. What happened. We lost both games. You pick your best team and stick with it. Clearly Morais doesn’t know what it is and he’s not really a manager either.
