Or in the late 90s was it about £2.50 for entry to the Metrodome swimming baths and you could stay in as long as you wanted?

Just looked at prices now and for an adult it's a tenner for 1.5 hours

I’m sure I used to pay about £3 as a child. It was time limited but we didn’t pay much attention to that.

Well you aren't THAT much younger than me *does maths* ok you are but was it always time limited? I don't even remember anyone ever mentioning a time limit when I was a kid. I used to spend about 5 hours in the pools and at least another hour running to the vending machines and back or to buy a crappy burger from the cafe.

You got different coloured bands at the Metrodome and the tannoy system used to announce when wearers of certain coloured bands had to leave the pool. As @JamDrop mentions above, everyone used to ignore it.

I’m not sure as I might be getting a bit mixed up with Splash at Butlins but I definitely remember somewhere having coloured bands that they would call out. I think it changed to that after I’d been going for a while though. We used to put all our keys in one locker and one of us would get a band then when it was time for them to return it for our key, a different one of us would go switch the key back for the new coloured band.

I had many a meal in that cafe as a child! Good times.

Now that you mention it I do vaguely remember coloured bands but can't remember ever wearing one or hearing a tannoy. I am losing my memory in my old age though.

One strange memory that I do have of the Metrodome is being allowed to use a large family changing cubicle when I went with 3 girls. No idea how that was allowed considering I was about 14 at the time

It still is Coloured Bands with an announcement telling you too leave although you’d do well to actually make out what was actually said

When it first opened you got coloured bands and there were coloured lights above where you came out of changing rooms that lit up when it was your turn to leave. Don’t know anyone who paid a blind bit of notice mind. I always left the pool looking like I was 356 years old

I remember the bands well, and the coloured lights just around above the entrance to the changing rooms. I have no idea of cost though. I remember going regularly as a young teenager.

I also remember going with the school prior to the official opening, so about 1989/90 but that was a freebie.

    A tenner if you pre-book. £7.50 if you don't pre-book.

If you're a regular swimmer join the gym - access to the pools at any time included.

    Metrodome closed for a month.

Aah the coloured band system. Brings back happy memories of being a kid. Used to use it at Minsthorpe baths near me as well.

Looking forward to the new Minsthorpe opening in a week or so.

The swimming pools are closed at the moment for a refurbishment, back open on the 23rd March.

Take a look at that place in Scarborough, you'll appreciate the Metrodome prices a bit more.
