Proven manager at this level. out of contract in the summer. Strong character to handle and advise the new owners. It's probably the last time ever we have an opportunity to get an experienced manager with a heart within the club to put his heart and soul into the job. I've heard the 'credentials' of the names been mentioned and I'll take them all on individual merits. BUT if I had a choice (and it's not sentimental, it's based on his credentials) I'd have him here tomorrow.
Didn't realise his contract was up this summer. If he's interested in coming to us, then now would be the time.
He's been at Portman Road a long time. It's probably his last chance to manage us. If he wants a change and to tick a missing box now's the time.
Why is it unrealistic. Ipswich friend of mine says he's just seeing his contract out. We've the fifth richest owners in English football. I reckon with 6mths left the Hecky money would cover our poaching money. He's exactly what we need at least in this seasons short term and at very least the clubs medium term aswell.
I’d give him a backie from Ipswich if it was a goer. Unfortunately I can’t see it didn’t he do an interview where he said he wouldn’t manage us cos he couldn’t bear it if the fans turned on him.
How many times.... Mick has been approached on three occasions to manage the club. Each time he has politely declined. The club and the town are simply too close to him and he won't take the risk of souring that relationship. End of.
We're a different kettle of fish now. No longer a friendly home-town club (not Boardroom level anyway).
I hope the dissenters think about our recent departures words about his feelings for his new employers, lets be reyt, money talks....... so now we have a few quid lets start ours talking before we find ourselves not been able to attract anyone decent cos its too late
Its his birthday tomorrow n'all. Cant believe he was only about 20 when I started watching him even then he looked like a bloody old pro .Happy Birthday Macca its time to come home lad .
Message to GG get in touch with Mick McCarthy agent tomorrow have a word see if he is interested. Barnsley fans would love him here.
If he did well then when he left for Leeds it would be ok as he was a Leeds fan in his teens. Confuses the one of our own thing
My thoughts exactly. We need to forget "little Barnsley". We need to look at how possible it could be (in that he has expressed a wish to return one day), and work on it. Meantime let Harsley take charge. Not a sentimental appointment, but a strong manager who would sort the wheat from the chaff.
He's probably seen how others who have failed second time despite legendary status first time (Wilson and Hendrie) are still highly thought of and now realises if he fails as our boss it wouldn't affect his legacy. He's not going to have many more years left in him and he could see out his career back home.
