Is there anyone with over half a brain that wants Hecky sacked?

Connrs agent "Conor villa are really interested in signing you, you would be looking to earn around 30k a week"

Conor "no I want to end my career here on 4k a week"

Conors agent "barnsley want you to leave so they can cash in"

Conor "okay I'll leave if I have to"

Conor would have signed the new deal, but was told not to, by someone at the club, someone that is no longer there. Roberts never wanted to leave the club, but was told he had to go. Winnall wanted to leave , Watkins wanted to leave once he was told he would not be offered another contract. What they are now getting is meaningless as they were not asking for that to stay ! So sorry to spoil your your story too ! Neither you or I know the whole story, but you keep posting what is not the whole truth.

Kev, you are just as entitled to your opinion, but I have never seen you or others with the same opinion called brainless. As i have said I dont want Hecky to go, but I can certainly understand why people are questioning his record this season !

I don't want a change of head coach, but I do think it's fair game to question Hecky and not be seen as either defending him or hounding him out. There's no need for anyone not to be civil about things. It'd be dull in the pub talking football if we all agreed on things. My son is 17, sees the game differently to me, enjoy debating with him. Even enjoy debating with @fitzytyke2 whilst waiting for the Ponty End car park to empty. Nobody right, nobody wrong.

It's a poor run over the 12 months, and I'm frustrated with some of his selections, and many of the recent performances, but I'm honestly looking longer term and if the worst happens this season I'd still stick with him next season. Football, and Barnsley, need to give managers proper time to turn things around. Others will have a different view, but mine is that a year isn't a long time in the cycle of a club, especially one that has lost virtually a full, and quality, team in that time. Most clubs struggle when measured against supporter expectations, in relative terms. I'm disappointed this season, and increasingly concerned that we may drop.

I still think we were hasty getting rid of Wilson (tin hat on ready for the shots!), although hindsight shows it was the correct decision. Give Hecky at least the summer window, irrespective of which division we're in, and judge him in another 12 months. Managers or clubs aren't really allowed any period of struggle anymore, and how they come out of that period of struggle, to me, is a better yardstick of their ability than unbridled success. I think even Hecky would put his hand up if we hadn't improved in 12 months with better resources avaikable for him.

I'm sure Hecky accepts he's in new territory inside and outside the club, and is realistic enough to know that on going poor form will trigger a decision at some point. But I back him to turn this round. Although respectfully accept that I may be wrong.

The thing is, and we all know this, in the space of one month we lost: Winnall [top scorer for two years], Hourianne [Top assists for two years], Bree [very dependable after Kpekawa being atrocious], Morsy [A fantastic player who really made us tick] - and we didn't replace them. We didn't have time in that window, or possibly even the inclination for reasons of balance sheet. None of that is Heckingbottom's fault.

Winnall was replaced by no-one at all. Hourianne was replaced by Alex Mowatt. Bree was replaced by Gethin Jones [now at Bury] and Morsy was temporarily replaced by Matty James.

We come to the new window and the players we sign are kids from lower leagues and Scotland.

To my mind we have STILL not replaced the players we lost.

I'm certainly not suggesting that mistakes have not been made by Hecky but when we were on the poor run under Johnson the football was dire. Some will disagree, in fact I am sure many will, but I have at least seen a team trying and knocking at the door. There are fine margins in some of the games and we have performed well against some good teams. This year was ALWAYS going to be a struggle so frankly for me, unless I see Davies upfront and Lindsey as right wing then Hecky gets a free pass and a summer where he can build before he attracts my criticism.

Unlike other posters, I genuinely don't think another manager would get better out of this group of players.

I don't do personal abuse, irrespective of how angry someone else's comments make me. Nor do I question their footballing knowledge. You said I was blinded by loyalty. I'm not. Also, what someone posts on here doesn't mean they represent my views. I'm responsible for myself and my own comments, not those of any other poster.

Hecky trys to make football sound rocket science. It may help if he got our forwards facing the opposition goal instead of back to goal and instructed the wingers to fizz fast early balls into the box. Just a basic idea.

What was the issue with Saturdays tactics?

He went with most of the same team that had outplayed an in form Fulham until Cavare’s moment of madness.

The 2 changes were Cavare which was enforced & Mallan out for Williams which made sense as Williams has been very good for us.

Recruitment in the summer. Fairly obvious. No need to go over the old ground of players leaving...

I think you have answered your own question there mate. Mallan has looked like the only central midfielder than can create anything, yet he was dropped to bring in another defensive player in, to recreate a pairing with gardner that has not looked like creating anything , yet Mallan and Gardner have been decent, Gardner looked a far better player with Mallan, but if you are happy with him dropping Mallan, who also actually looked dangerous with set plays too, then fair enough. Everyone can have their opinion without being called brainless!

I am not sure I have ever told you that you cannot have a different view to me or anyone else, in fact I am certain of it ! If I have offended you or anyone else then i apologise as it was not my intention to do so, in fact it was the total opposite . If i am upsetting people like yourself then maybe it s time for me to stay away for a while.

I like Mallan’s set pieces but he’s offered very little in open play & is a bit soft. If I’m going to QPR & am looking for a central midfielders to partner Gardner I’d much prefer Williams to Mallan
