If so please state why? All those living in champ manager world need not apply; IE those that do not consider match fitness, team chemistry, players self-esteem and generally anything else that makes football management a complex thing.
People will have differing opinions. You can't just suggest that they're not very clever for having a different view. Bearing in mind we've struggled at this level since 2006, and changing managers has at best postponed the inevitable until later, or at worst, not made any difference at all, why sack any manager at all? We always end up here, towing our bags out because of our inferior budget. The club can't be seen to sit on its hands and ignore such bad runs indefinitely though. Every now and again they have to make a change, or lose some support, at least until things pick up again. I don't want him sacked, but neither would I lose sleep if that was the case. I have missed one game since the start of last season, and I fully appreciate other fans desperation for something to change. Had I not seen last season's 9 away wins, it would be even worse.
I love Hecky. But someone has to take the bullet eventually. If we don't win a couple this month, does anyone think he'll still be here? Even though he's had half the team sold off, and his assistant manager was dodgy, and Cryne died, and he's had to rebuild the squad. All those things have to be factored into any appraisal of performance. I have even said before that I'd not go any more if they sacked him. But if one win in 16 becomes one in 20, and there is no scope to bring in new players because the window is shut, who's going to take the hit? Not Ganaye. Not Conway. Not Brad Potts. I'd be ******* gutted if it happens, because his tenure has been very special. As an outsider looking in, though, would you be surprised?
Some very sensible replies so far that I largely agree with. I don't want to see Hecky sacked, I want him to succeed and get to the highest level with us. But he's not immune to criticism and, if things continue to get worse, the bullet. Hopefully we'll get back on track this Saturday.
I posted after Fulham that he will pay the price for the failings of others. Got told I was being disrespectful.
This is something you find not to be considered by majority of people who call for a manager to be sacked such as hecky. Who replaces him? This is the major point that is overlooked, what happened to Barnsley after promotion is the equivalent of Leicester selling Mahrez, Vardy, Wes Morgan, Albreighton et al and expecting them to still compete in the premier league. Doesnt matter who's manager if you strip a team of quality unless you drop extremely lucky with the replacements. Give me a manager who's heart is in the club who has shown he can get a team together, such as hecky, over some geezer with a 'reputation' that appeases a percentage of a fan base because they were unable to see the true circumstances faced. The over simplified nature some people on here challenge decisions such as line ups and player selection is nothing more than retarded; how can you dispute decisions without the full info? Again i refer to things such as match fitness of a player, whether theyve woke up with the shits that day or decided that they'd crack on with a team mates wife the night before.
I tend to agree with you overall but like the op to say people are retarded for expressing an opinion is a bit much..
I agree with the sentiment. I do not feel it is verboten to criticise PC. I look at him as I look at my parents: you can forgive the decisions which might have been made differently because I feel sure they were made with the best-possible intentions. Cryne was not a Sascha Gaydamak, Karl Oyston or even an Ellis Short. He worked until the last month of his life to sell us to someone who would look after us. He pulled us out of the **** post-Dennis and post-Doyle. For those acts he needs a statue making. Were all his decisions perfect? No. Do I know what he could have done better? Not really, but I do feel we stagnated. It does not make him a bad owner. I don't know what I am trying to say. Nobody's perfect, I guess.
I couldn't think of a better way to express "there's something lacking" in capacity to consider the entire picture of proffesional football management.
Are you happy with the tactics employed by Hecky this season? Or even yesterday ? Nothing crazy about the fans questioning the manager, I do question the unending loyalty of some fans, that are blinded to the facts , because they just want him to succeed ! Every time the manager at Oakwell is under pressure those fans that dare to suggest that it may be the manager that is at fault, they are berated by " Well who would you replace him with?" Yet everytime we find someone else to replace them when they are in fact sacked. I am not saying that Hecky should be sacked, but i can see why others feel that way, because at the moment he just isnt good enough. Yesrterdays tactics were abysmal and that was not down to anyone else other than the manager.
Failings of what? Selling players who wanted to leave? Not getting Conor ect on extended deals? They would have still be gone we would have just got more money. Sadly were barnsley we have the 2nd smallest budget in this league that's one if the main reasons we are where we are.
Do you have any proof that these players wanted to leave ? Or is it just an assumption ? You have said this a few times , so I am thinking you know the facts?
Personally think (and hope) we're about to turn a corner. Although loose against Sheff Weds next week, I can't see us avoiding the inevitable.
I don't have a problem with any fan who wants Hecky sacked. It's their opinion and they're entitled to voice it. However. I'm backing Hecky 100% and, by the same token. I'm entitled to voice that view, too. I'm not blinded by anything. It's my opinion that Paul has been a successful Head Coach, has improved players at our club and will continue to do so. I simply hold an alternative viewpoint. If anyone else wants to select a name for a gaffer, then let them. That's what I'm doing when backing Hecky. I'm respectful towards others if they're holding an alternative opinion, even when it's polar opposite to mine. This can be achieved without having the need to question their footballing knowledge, or suggesting they're incapable of reasonable thought process. I think it's only right for that to be reciprocal.
Conor went to see Patrick while he was having treatment and said he wanted to leave. Winnall made it clear he wanted out. I knew bree would leave and told people the two clubs which wanted him at the time. Marley Watkins handed in a transfer request which is always a good indication. So sorry to spoil the story of they were all forced out but I don' think that' the case they are all making at least 4x more then they were here.
I see what you are saying but i must have a difference of opinion in regards to tactics in regards to skill levels and capabilities of players etc, i think people oversimplify these. It's the 2nd tier of a national game, it requires a level of skill over pure application. If hecky had the team that got promoted he'd be getting results, yet folk keep knee jerk reacting despite glimpses of promise and 1 game after a transfer window, as though folk should slot into a side like a keggy football man.
Football Manager, which evolved from Champ manager now takes all of those things into account. In fact this year's player dynamics aspect is proving to be really difficult
I know i wasted many an hour on champ manager and dipped back into football manager the other month! Too much like hard work these days though!
