Not read that article before. Nice to see Mr Lee say he's here for the long term benefits rather than a quick buck.
Good read, all the people who keep saying relegation would be a disaster get should give that a read.
Relegation could be a god send as long as they invest wisely and in plenty of time in the first window back at this level
Wouldn't say God send it's always better to stay up. But It wouldnt be the disaster some seem to think either.
Of course it would be a disaster. We are a football club who's primary aim is to win games and finish as high up the league system as possible. Getting relegated is from a sporting point of view the worst possible result. We aren't a business, we are a football club. Relegation would be a disaster for the club and for the fans even if it doesn't bother me lee
Always said the summer would be massive with big possible sponsorships coming in from abroad and if they are modelling us on American teams relegation will be a blip, that's all.
Best three seasons I’ve had in the 30 years I’ve been a Barnsley FC supporter, have been promotion seasons, it’s never going to happen in this league again, so to get some excitement and proper enjoyment out of the club again it’ll have to be at a level lower than this one. And promotion momentum is the only chance we will ever have of doing well in the championship in my opinion, 5 seasons at a time like this one kills the club and the fans.
Why is it never going to happen in this league? Don't you have any faith that Barnsley FC can compete on a football pitch? If what you are looking for is seasons of guaranteed promotion then we might be better off getting ourselves relegated a few times. We would piss promotion from the conference to league 2 then we could just relegate ourselves and promote ourselves every 2 years. How exciting. Costs would be much lower too wouldn't they. It's win win
We’re ownd by a billionaire if he can’t stand £8M to give the club chance to blood some of our young lads, get that winning mentality back in the club, and build up forward momentum then he shouldn’t have bothered buying the club. The only other way to get success at this level is to spend triple that if not triple triple
I agree Championship, League one yo-yo team, is the only way to avoid years and years of successful relegation scraps, with the way it looks like we’re going to continue to be run. You can’t compete at this level successfully and continually without spending massively.
Suppose it would depend on the definition of disaster. We have no players on stupid wages and we would be finically secure if we went down. We would play 46 league games and try and go back up. Not for a moment was I saying it would be a positive thing but what would be disastrous about it?
Are you aBarnsley fan ..?! Why would They buy a club to be mediocre ...? Are you trying to put everyone on a downer . Get Behind em ye mug
It would relegate us to the third division. That is a disaster. I'm not saying that financially it would as I don't know what the new owners are prepared to put in but it would lose us millions. But my point is that the aim is to finish up the league not down. Relegation is the worst possible finish. That doesn't really need explaining it's pretty self explanatory.
Yes you can. To stay in this league we need to beat 3 teams, we don't need to compete financially with wolves
Think it's just the use of the word disaster that I disagree with. 3 teams have to go down very season. I just don't get as worked up as some do about it. If we continue on our current model under the new owners then I think we will go down one season. If we progressed up the league and for to the the prem then eventually we would come back down. It's the nature of the league system.
