........ NOT because they had a better team or players. If Cavare had gone down and rolled about a bit after the bad tackle from behind - then it would have been the Fulham player sent off. Barnsley were dominating up to that point - but Fulham were winning all the refereeing decisions. Barnsley clearly still don't know how to 'mix it' and win through influencing refereeing decisions. Hecky spoke about this after the Cardiff match. Hecky obviously hasn't had enough time yet to spend with players such as Cavare. And that's where the speed of bringing players in ASAP is so vitally important.
The foul on cavare was nothing. Certainly not a red in a million years. Also I would be ashamed if our players started rolling around in the floor more than some of them already do
But they do have better players. Much better. I doubt one of our players would get on their bench. Maybe Lindsay at a push.
the reaction of players often get other players sent off....we have to accept (although morally disagree with it) its a part of football...we either accept it or get punished.
Without excusing him for his reaction,I think the foul on Cavare was more than nothing, in fact it was a malicious wild kick out at him which luckily didn’t catch him fully and could’ve been caused damage. The fact that the Fulham player failed to make make full contact does count as ‘nothing’
The foul on Cavare was nasty and could have ended his season if he had reacted the same way the Fulham playing did feigning injury the Fulham lad would have been sent off.
It was hardly nothing in fact the referee was already going to correctly book him I agree to some extent with Nudgers point that we are not as good at playing the referee as some teams but that was irrelevant here if you run up to a player already being spoken to by the ref and flatten him you get sent off. Fulham did play the ref well going down at every opportunity but I don’t want us to go down that path. Maybe there are times when we are too honest but one of the things that is putting me off Football is the way that cheating is a accepted
The Fulham player should have been booked for the foul and for simulation afterwards. Look at Mallan's reaction to th clash for confirmation.
Wasn't sure. There was some debate about the red card, the BBC said straight red for violent conduct (only pushed him for f**ks sake), but I'm sure I saw the ref show a second yellow card before the red. I which case the ref got it spot on - one of the few good decisions he gave.
/ Yes and he wasn’t the only one, on another day with another ref I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Hammill get a red when he was booked. It certainly was a wild challenge
Your definition of "professional" is interesting; in any other profession, the word "professional" means performing your job to the highest standards. I would argue that it's very unprofessional to dive and cheat.
Definitely a second yellow. Whats really annoying is his first yellow was a product of Sessegnon cheating.
NO. We lost because Fulham are much better at playing the referee. We absolutely battered Fulham up to that point. We got next to nothing from the referee - Fulham got everything. We need to smarten up !!!
On 26 minutes I turned to a mate of mine and said this "we are dominating this, Fulham haven't had a strike at goal yet, we should be 3 or 4 up by now, watch us go and lose"
