Good move for them. They are lacking in central defence & goalkeeper. The money is nuts. I agree. I think Southampton need to spend wisely this time, or they will be going the way of Swansea.
Of course, it would be a nice windfall for us but these unbelievably inflated values trickle down so now it costs a kings ransom for bang average players. The game has been reduced to a financial freak show by money and greed.
I agree with that too and I'm guessing that it will implode one day, but whilever mugs pay ridiculous match day ticket prices, Internet and TV subscriptions, it's here to stay.

I'm not surprised viewing figures are going down. They keep selling off more and more live matches, but they are getting to the point of scraping the barrel. Who in their right mind pays to watch West brom v Stoke or Watford v Swansea for example? I wouldn't watch if they were playing in our back garden. The article also makes a good point about young people, the Internet and their lack of money, but if you also factor in pirate streaming and young peoples butterfly approach to entertainment, flitting from one thing to another every 5 minutes, the advertisers haven't a cat in hells chance of their adverts being seen. So as these youngsters age, subsequent generations follow in a similar fashion and advertisers withdraw their support, it will implode.
He was on a long contract at Southampton which is the likely reason he has cost so much. I wonder what Bobby Moore would have been worth in todays transfer market.
