Obviously all we can do is speculate about the "short term/long term" improvements that are likely to be coming our way. A new West Stand is probably one of the long term projects but, much sooner I reckon, will be the installation of those annoying moving advertising boards that seems to be at every ground in the top two divisions these days. I say annoying because I find them distracting when trying to focus on the pitch but I'm sure they are a good revenue source. Given the Chinese input that we now have it seems inevitable that there will be advertising in that language flashing up every couple of minutes (just like everyone else), this being necessary when the rights to watch our matches live over there become reality. I'm not talking about a market for BFC v Burton Albion and the like but our games against the bigger clubs in this division will most certainly be of interest to the millions of Leeds fans in China (oh dear, they've missed that one this season!) Just like the old A-Z half times scoreboards that we used to have at the Kop end many years ago, the static advertising boards around the pitch will soon be consigned to history. I expect to see this new installation some time in the coming weeks, if not months and also a new BIG electronic scoreboard to replace the inadequate one there now. Maybe get two - one at the Ponty/West Stand corner. My final prediction will be the arrival of one or two far eastern players, probably Chinese. This will of course be necessary to add to the interest when they start watching our beamed back matches in Beijing and everywhere else.
The electronic advertising boards will be no more distracting than the game of crown green bowls used to be on the old Co-op sports ground that you could watch if the game at Oakwell was less than engrossing.
Champions League, New Oakwell at Dodworth with 60,000 seats, and Robert Lewandowski smacking home precise low centres from Riyad Mahrez. These predictions are based on the same knowledge as the opening post on this thread.
- Electronic advertising - a new modern building on the Academy/training ground - possibly an extension of the indoor training pitch offices. - Renovations of all the concourses in the three modern stands - A fan zone similar to what's been implemented at Man City, Liverpool & Bristol City. - Social club/Supporters Bar if it's not already in the plans for the above. - Desso pitch that's finally straight & perimeter track put down (Like the King Power and Hillsborough have laid) - Chinese sponsorship all over the ground/kit **** all on players, be reyt.
I am not claiming any knowledge. Plenty of others can do that. I am only thinking of possibilities. The flashy advertising seems to be de rigeur at most big grounds. Only a matter of time before we get it I would have thought.
Main water pipe runs back of east stand that’s why stand is design it is , so I Carnt see a hotel been built there
Mate of mine is a Huddersfield fan and said things really started to change when Dean Hoyle took over. Not massive changes, but could afford to take a punt on the season ticket offer and later on created a singing section. Their success wasn't immediate, and neither was it fully expected. Brentford had the moving advertising around the perimeter last weekend, and it looks very business like. I'd also like to see a much bigger screen at the club to show replays and match information etc.
Thanks. Like I said, just my predictions. Obviously I "know" nothing, like the rest of us, but these suggestions seem logical to me.
If there's another it will be on the corner stand between East and Ponty. The west upper can only see half of the board (at best) at the minute.
