    nice to see the retailers and south yorkshire police do the right thing and prosecute the shoplifting aswell as inform social services ffs

    better reduce and/or stop their benefits too for good measure....scroungers

    On the face of it it does appear to be a sad situation for those involved. However, it's nice to see you jumping to conclusions without possession of the facts.
    "The two young children are now with social services. The parents have been processed for the theft but the focus is now to support this family."
    Firstly we don't know the circumstances, Secondly, the Police state the priority is Social Welfare. Thirdly, it says 'processed' not 'prosecuted' Depending on circumstances the retailers may not press charges and or the Police/CPS may decide against prosecution depending on the circumstances.

    Still don't let that get in the way of your hand wringing and indignation, ranting and spouting anti establishment nonsense, by assuming they are being victimised.

    Things like this should not be happening this day and age but it does because of this government and its austerity mostly towards the poor and vulnerable of this country and yet they get away with it, you only have to read some of the remarks given by some of this board's Right-wing contingent.
