After Kodjia, Hogan and Agbonlahor all become injured it looks like Asto Villa are interested in signing this lad from Swansea next month I know we need strikers in during January and McBurnie would be an obvious signing for us after trying to sign him before. However if it comes down to Villa or Barnsley I guess he'd go with the Villa option due to their league position. Although he's more likely to get more games with us if all Villa's strikers were fit!! Not the experienced, goal laden, big lad we all want though TBH so realistically who is out there to sign??? My options for what its worth Goalscorer - break the bank on loan Danny Ings Goalscorer - realistic Jack Marriott (22 in 44 for Luton and 12 in 20 for Peterborough) Target Man - break the bank loan on Leonardo Ulloa (not playing at the moment, benchwarming) Target Man - realistic ............ havn't a clue TBH Your thoughts......
I think we should forget McBurnie, that ship has probably sailed. Very difficult to think of anyone, which is probably why we have struggled to get the right players in. Marriott at Peterborough would cost £2m I reckon, so he's out. I'd like Josh Morris at Scunny but he's similar to a lot of players we've got. There's a dearth of decent forwards about, especially of the target man mold. In fact I'd say they're a dying breed in general. No one really stands out as a possible signing and that concerns me. Untried Premier League kids or a punt from League Two may once again have to be the avenue we go down.
Not a striker, but.....I'd have liked to have seen us in for Ryan Leonard from Southend. 25 year old winger who's been there player of the year for the last 3 years, and out of contract in the summer I believe. Sheffield United heavily linked with him though, so sadly I reckon there'll be little chance of us being in for him.
A Michael Hefele type on loan. Been out injured since August for Huddersfield but due back soon. Can't see them trying to get him back up to full fitness when their defence is leaky enough. Could be open to a loan until the end of season, we can sell it on the great work we did with Matty James. 42 games for them last season so knows the league, obviously very well to play such a huge part in why they went up.
He's 29. I would still be looking at Liam Mandeville although he won't solve our problems in the immediate term. We need to loan someone out of favour in this division. Don't know who though.
Not when we signed him. If we sold Marc Roberts at 26/27 do you really believe we will sign a 29 year old striker? More chance of carrying out ground improvements.
