Do you know what my reaction would be if one of our team, or indeed any player, came out as openly gay? Utter indifference. Doesn't need lauding or patting on the back, doesn't need grief - just a big 'so what'. Fact is that we all work with gay people, whether we know it or not. Doesn't affect their ability to do the job, doesn't stop them being a footballer. Barmy in this day and age that it hasn't happened yet to be honest.
Apparently 55% of Brits were pro Europe. Apparently Donald Trump had no chance of being the President of the USA. In other words fake news. How many of us on here were asked that question? I hazard a guess at zero.
Do they avoid films with gay actors or listening to music with gay singers as well If thats a real statistic I dispair but I find it hard to believe, unless they picked people leaving Elland Road or the New Den to survey
Dont know why they make a big deal of it .. What if a player(s) came out as trans... or allowing women to play... ... ??
The big deal of it is that there are at least 8% of people who are shallow, stupid and bigoted enough to stop supporting their team if it contained a gay player. Give me someone who doesn't have those faults but votes Tory any day of the week.
Cheers. Some weird folk about. I'm actually encouraged it's only 8% though. I imagine it would have been much higher at one time
I'd imagine it is higher marc. It's like the Trump voters. When polled beforehand a significant number were too embarrassed to admit they'd vote for him but still went into the booth and put their cross against his name.
Whilst I understand that football teams are not a random cross section of society the chances are there's at least 1 gay person in most teams. Those 8% shouldn't risk it and FRO now.
What if a player(s) came out as trans... or allowing women to play... ...et cetera ?? What's your opinion on that ??
I don't understand what you're getting at. The point of the thread was fan intolerance of homosexual players. Is that something you're happy with? If not then great.
No just seems youre interested in the subject .. just wondered what your opinions on the other related subjects were .. ??
Not interested as such. I just think it's pathetic that in this day and age a player would get abuse for coming out as gay. And he would. I don't care what sexuality or proclivity a player has as long as it harms no one else. Adam Hamill could wander up and down Market Hill in twin set and pearls and he'd still be a hero of mine and scorer of possibly the two greatest goals I've ever seen from a Barnsley player.
