I like Potts was glad we signed him and remain so. Conor won player of the month pretty much straightaway and anyone who couldn’t see pretty much immediately how good he was knows nowt about football. Josh. He was my favourite player pretty much immediately and made a difference in the little run we had 6 wins on the trot or whatever it was. But aye all opinions.
Can't really compare him to Conor or josh just yet the lad is 23. At 23 Conor and josh were both in league one and were far from the players they have turned into. They were both good laikers don't get me wrong but every season with us they improved and I think the club see the same happening with brad potts hence why he has a 3 year deal with option of 4. The jump from league 2 to championship is a big one abit of patience is needed.
The teams we play do not make allowances for his inexperience. He is one of a championship teams midfield choices and we have to evaluate him as such and compare him with other championship midfielders. It’s harsh but true
I was just comparing him to Conor and josh at his age. Conor had plenty of critics in his 1st couple of seasons at oakwell one instance he even ended up having a word with some in the ponty giving him a hard time. Could Conor have made the jump from Plymouth to a championship club I very much doubt he could of he improved every season and came of age last season. Can brad potts? The jury is out obviously he could of stayed at blackpool and had a season or two in league one like Conor had. But he is here and hecky obviously thinks he can make the step up so we will see.
As you say harsh but true ..and to be fair to Potts he came on against an extremely experienced midfield on Saturday and performed quite well.
A few stats: After 14 games of the season: 16/17 - Conor Hourihane Goals: 3 Assists: 5 Games played in: 13 Mins on pitch: 1170 17/18 - Brad Potts Goals: 2 Assists: 3 Games played in: 13 Mins on pitch: 1042 From a contribution point of view that's not a bad return, especially considering he's gone straight in to a team that he and his team mates are largely unfamiliar with.
Whose opinion were you speculating on?... obviously your own. Couldn’t make it up as an over reaction!
So, what it appears to show is that perhaps, sometimes, maybe, a player making a step up of 2 leagues (maybe we could extend that to foreign lads coming into the club, and maybe those just stepping up one league) might need a bit of time to adjust to the higher standard, and get used to his new team mates and what he's being asked to do by his new manager/Head Coach before he starts to show just why he was signed in the first place ? Well **** me pink, this is startling news. I am shocked to my core.
