I would be over the moon if the only news was the takeover, even if we cant use the extra funds till January, It would just be a huge step forward for the club. As much as we all admire and respect Cryne for the amazing work he has done over his tenure, the only realistic way we can move forward is with new investment
I'm not too bothered either way. A take over has good points and bad points. We have a decent squad now, maybe a little bit light in a few areas. A bit more investment I would like to see ticket prices come down in a plea to encourage bigger crowds. Bradford City did it and it worked really well for them.
No point padding the squad out with more gambles who could turn out to be average, I'm sure the new owners won't be throwing cash at us but I'm sure we'd move up a level in terms of the players we'd be trying to get
Im hoping takeover announced 2pm today big signing 8pm. It's going to be the most exciting transfer deadline day ever and the Maurice jacking has added fuel to my made up fire.
I'm cautiously optimistic. Why have they bought us.? What are their short, medium, long term plans/intentions.? Most importantly is Hecky staying.? The uncertainties when we were leaving the ground in protest to the Doyle takeover and the worry in 2003 when we received permission to play our fixtures 24 hours before the season started is still etched in the memory. This is an entirely different feeling. Unless we're told anything to the contrary , the Club is stable thanks to the prudent care of Maurice Watkins and Patrick Cryne. Our prospective new owners don't appear to be asset strippers, having said that, as commented previously, as entrepreneurs they are profit driven. For me , so long as it's progressive, well planned investment/ growth with the aim of playing at the highest possible level within the next five years, that would do for me.
Got a feeling that in this particular window our only addition might be McBurnie. Might be wrong but let's see.!
Everyone needs to bear in mind that the potential new owners have promised a 'modest' investment into the club. Don't get the hump if we aren't winning the Champions League next summer. The fees we pay for players may increase, but not by staggering amounts I reckon. The rest of our network will probably remain the same.
Some stadium improvements, chance to hold onto the majority of our players and be a comfortable mid table championship club and l'd be happy. Plenty there to build on.
Problem is when a takeover is announced all players that we are in terested in the transfer fees get inflated as well as wages wanted
Doesn't mean we have to pay those inflated fees though. If a player only wants to join us for money then maybe they are not the right fit for us
Going to be like Man City a few years ago when they were taken over by Sheikhs and tried to buy everyone
I think the club has the foundations to be a competitive top 6 championship team. We're streets ahead of others in terms of development. We do just need that bit of cash to make us a bit more competitive in terms of wages. Ground improvements too would be handy.
