We may and indeed, can all have second teams, but this man has a statue in town and gets free hospitality at Oakwell. Whenever Barnsley do well or there is a TV appearance to be made he can't wait to pledge his allegiance. He pays for his season ticket, that cannot be taken away, but I propose and would petition that all the free match-day hospitality privileges in the director's lounge be removed. My missus is a Spurs fan...her analogy was "Can you imaging Chas and Dave rocking up singing 'Rabbit' on the pitch at the Emirates in red and white during their derby game?! I'm incensed!!
Well what an absolute lovely person... Do us a favour Dickie and tek that waste a money statue to their manor. Maybe then we can finally have one erected for a true Barnsley sporting hero a la Tommy Taylor!
Not from Barnsley so forgive me for sounding ignorant but why does a Cricket referee have his own statue?
The statue isn't at Oakwell but it is in the town as he is seen by the council as an ambassador. There was actually a vote where the people could choose who the statue would be of, Dickie Didn't get the most votes, but true to form, the council had already made up their mind. I'm yet to actually find a single person from Barnsley that actually likes the man.
FFS !!! Why all the negativity??? They give the guy red carpet hospitality and he pays them back by saying they are a good club. I cannot see anything wrong with that.
If memory serves, didn't he also come onto the pitch at Oakwell against Leeds and was paraded in front of the away end clapping and cheering towards the Leeds fans?
Got to say that my first thought is around his state of health/mind listening to it. I could be completely misreading it but he looks and sounds like he's aged a great deal.
Regardless doesn't explain putting on a sheff Utd tie. Maybe he got caught up in a ched Evans sexual game.
I never have liked the bloke, and people like Bird & Parkinson make me sick to be honest as 'fans' only when it suits them. Bollards to them!.
He's wearing a Sheffield United tie and said he was supporting The Blades. Didn't you bother to unmute the audio.
I hope everyone posting foooking negatives about one of our own are taking into account that he probably played and umpired cricket at that ground? Same old story - some Barnsley fans hate to see one of their own done good.
I think it's more to do with him being a Barnsley fan and then changing allegiance when it suits tbh.
