Where would you send them? I think there's potential for Sessi, Townsend, Pinnock, Mallan, Payne, Jackson, and J Bird to perhaps go out on loan before the window, if not on a permanent deal elsewhere. For each loan, it's really a question of 1) What level do you want them to get experience at. 2) What style of play do you want from them. 3) What type of players do you want them to be around. 4) How much game time can they expect? 5) Will it be to challenge them, or merely to get competitive game time? I'll start us off with Stevie Mallan. Whispers of him being home sick, but he needs to learn the English game. Can't have him relocating too much because he's only a young player and we'd probably be harming his mental state by turfing him off somewhere new yet again. I'd let him settle up north and try to find a club like Donny Rovers. Local, challenging in league one. I'd expect him to slot in to the side easily there. Lots of experienced heads over there and I doubt it'd do him much harm to be around a seasoned pro like Coppinger.
So you're saying we paid over £1.5m for Pinnock ? Sure someone else on here mentioned their local paper said it was £500k. I think Mallan will go out on loan like we did with Moncur.
Whether they do go out on loan or not is besides the point. The point of the post is to discuss where they might benefit from getting game time..
I thought Mallan was injured or something. Looked very promising on the highlight montages, and had great things said about him by St. Mirren fans.
Sessi not going anywhere... he's Heckys translator for Thiam and Cavare on the training pitch while they are doing English lessons!! In all seriousness reckon Sessi and Mowatt need game time if not in the plans at the moment. With McGeehan and potentially one more to come they'll possibly struggle for time. Hecky said Mallan needs to stay and learn what's expected of him. He may get some game time in league cup or if he impresses and improves. Pinnock is the only new signing I think would benefit from a loan if he isn't getting games. He's stepped from non league and would perhaps ideally get experience in L1 and be more ready for stepping up 1 league next season. Stefan Payne if McBurnie comes and Nick Townsend out on loan likely as well i reckon.
Other than Townsend and maybe Payne the rest of those players will play a part this season, and I reckon it'd be better to just sell Townsend and Payne especially if we're getting replacements in all ready
Sessi will be heading out if a club will take him. Townsend likely to go but again it needs to be a club looking for a number 1. We're saving our loan quota until nearer the end of the window. 1-2 older loan players likely.
Is there any point in sending Payne out on loan as opposed to offloading him permanently? I mean, I personally haven't seen enough of him to make an assessment one way or the other but he wasn't in PH's plans last season and was still down the pecking order prior to the arrival of Ugbo/Thiam and the possible arrival of McBurnie, not to mention Hedges who actually came to the Club as a forward.
I agree. To be fair to Townsend he's a good keeper. Too good for the bench, he'd be great in L1. Payne for me is another who isn't quite champ level. We do this with strikers, sign omes that just don't suit the club.
If we loan out Jackson and Pinnock we'll not have enough centre backs! Jackson's in the team at the moment...
