Sorry to be a Jonny Come lately on the thread, I've flown on holiday (just got wifi and I'm hoping it lasts long enough for me to listen or maybe watch tomorrow given I'm out of the uk on iFollow), I won't get to the well til Sunderland. Missing Ipswich and forest. Bloody mrs and her ideas of sunny hols. Any road, hemsy, tha've excelled yourself this time old fruit. One, at least half them figures are tripe. Two of them were bloody out of contract free agents! Two. The amount spent is of no relevance whatsoever. What is his net spend? Has he spent more than the club has received in fees for the players he's lost? Nowhere near. Not even close. Not even if you take out the stones money. So the amount he's spent is actually probably eight figures - in the minus. He's spent nothing in real terms. The club have made profit. You only want to give him credit for the players who he signed - magnificently forgetting that it was under him the ones already here earned such reputations and values. Further than that, transfer values are of little to no relevance in such assessments. If you sign players out of contract or with only a year left they are free - or cheaper than their full market value. It is wages that measure the amount spent in a truer way. I imagine we have a similar wage bill to burton and that it will be lower than every other club in the division. So if we don't finish in the bottom two, we have overachieved. If we do finish even rock bottom, he won't have underachieved realistically. But we won't. He has worked wonders. He probably will again. There's probably you and one or two others out of the tens of thousands of Barnsley fans that don't agree. Yet you are so arrogant you can't accept that you could possibly be wrong even when nearly the whole world disagrees. I can assure you of one thing, Hecky would walk into another job at championship level or higher if he left. No question. His stock on the football market is exceptionally high. Perhaps you'd like him to go? You clearly don't rate him. Only problem is, as I've said before, I strongly believe that bobby Hassell is being groomed to succeed. You'd love that wouldn't you? Haha Youre a cracking angler I'll give you that. Six pages and counting.
I think the problem could be that Hecky drove through Mansfield on the way back from a scouting mission having just agreed to spend a massive amount of money....far more than any manager in this division could dream of...on a kid with red hair....unfortunately that kid was not an Arsenal 17 yr old Academy graduate, so obviously doesn't have either the physical or mental skills to handle real football...those in the know, that is those who play FM2017, will recognise, what a s**t manager we have....until people on here wise up and play FM2017 we'll get nowhere.
I didn't say he was brilliant. You made the comment about Hecky turning us into the form team, but the results show that the change in form started before he was appointed, as did the wins that took us to the final. Nor is it entirely true that the run before he left was boring. Played 16 For 34 Against 18 I'm glad Johnson left but it doesn't change certain facts.
Last 16 games league only were won 7 lost 8 drew 1. 29 goals for against 19. I went to them all we were awful except for the last 6 games and the Altrincham game which ranks as the worst performance I've ever seen was in the middle. Johnson had us on a little winning run just prior to leaving in his managerial career this usually goes before a long losing one. He was a record breaker with us in the wrong way. He had financial advantages a settled team but managed to turn a team we have since flogged for 20 million quid into relegation contenders. Let's not underestimate how truly ***** he was.
Just to balance that out, his record before the winning run started was W 9 D 11 L 16 I'm convinced if Bristol hadn't come in for him we would still be in League One.
Nobody would argue his run before that was anything but horrendous, yet the fact remains that when many wanted him sacked Cryne kept him on and results improved dramatically (even with many people stating that the group of players were awful, never mind the manager). This fact is airbrushed out by some fans in some weird Stalinist like rewriting of BFC history.
What exactly do you class as "walking the walk"? Hecky hardly "talks the talk" does he? He certainly doesn't make any bold claims or promises. Regardless of money spent v previous managers don't you agree that he still has an incredibly difficult job working within the club's budget and also trying to bridge the very large financial gap that exists at this level. In terms of pressure, there is pressure on most of the managers in the league, to a lesser or greater extent, as there was on each reds manager before him.
In some respects, the greatest pressure Hecky was ever under was taking the side Johnson left, which to be fair and referred to by @Watcher of the Skies, had definitely got its act together, and maintaining and improving it further, gradually making us promotion contenders. I recall many comments about the team and the head coach "blowing it" when conceding that late equaliser at home to Colchester, admittedly we didn't play well, but for me Hecky showed what he's about in the four subsequent games. Not just professional performances, total demolition of three good teams. Walking the walk, when it really mattered. All we've done is start to pay higher transfer fees for some players, and whilst I suspect we are paying marginally higher wages than previously, I think we'll be one of the 2 or 3 poorer relatives compared to the rest of the Championship in that respect.
Hemsy have a read at what Mick McCarthy thinks about Hecky. Saying that you probably think Mecca knows nowt n'all.
Is Hecky beyond criticism? No Is it right to have a constant agenda towards Hecky and continuously mention it over and over again for no reason whatsoever?
Listen to the interview after the Rotherham match. That could have been damageing to the heart of the club. He likes to make comments that aren't backed up. The ceo was coming, the ceo arrived moths after he had said in a press conference. But he was after been backed. The club have done that. Now let's see what he does. Tatically it's up to him. Last pre season game, and the two this week have amounted to 10 against two poor teams. To those that mention players been sold, this club that doesn't get that ? Premier league champions have sold and will sell if a select few teams come knocking.
i very much doubt hecky can stop players going and i also doubt any premier league clubs have their guts ripped out year after year, sometimes twice a year in our case. as for the CEO coming,if hecky was told he would be arriving shortly then thats the reason he said what he said, the fact that he arrived weeks afterwards has **** all to do with hecky.
