With an English spine behind it. Not done anything since they left though. Ie the joke of finishing 4th or less each season.
We know that Huddersfield are interested in Yiadom because we have turned down a bid. Have you heard any clubs saying they have rejected a bid from Barnsley? If a club makes a bid for a player their agent will make sure it gets into the public domain. To say the only problem is other clubs not playing ball, well I simply cannot agree with that.
There's no point beating about the bush - or even trying to hide behind it. It was specifically said when Ganaye got the job that he would provide a link to a network on the continent. What happened ??? I was expecting maybe up to 10 players on trial by now. There's going to be some fast young strikers available from the continent that Barnsley will be able to afford. Or........ have we got ourselves so stuck in a rut of targeting a handful of British players that the club isn't leaving any options open?
It amazes me that in the face of all evidence to the contrary people seem to think the club are just sitting around waiting for something to happen. Every player that comes to the club remarks on how we knew everything about his game. The spreadsheet system, whether you like it or not, has proved to be exhaustive, we've brought in umpteen players in the last couple of years quite a few very good, a fair few not. It's clear that, whatever your views on the quality of players bought, the search for players is pretty intense and continuous. PH constantly alludes to this. But you'd prefer to believe they're all sitting in Heckys office drinking tea and playing cards and wondering why there's not a queue of Frenchmen outside the door?
The only one who should be suggesting players to the board are Hecky and his team of scouts, not the CEO.
All I can say is that PH doesn't tend to talk crap or make stuff up. He says we're looking at players, specifically strikers. That we're trying to get deals done. I've no idea who they are. I do know that getting hold of good ones is the most difficult task of all and thatif we're loaning one it's not likely to come to fruition until very late in the piece.
Surley. A football person should be recommending the players not an executive. I'm extremely. Concerned if we are signing players based on the choice of the CEO
What's the point of a French CEO then? Isn't there anyone in the 70 million Brits that are capable of doing the job? We are not talking about doing the governor of the bank of England's job here. And why mention that Ganaye has links to a network on the continent if that network is not used? Has Ganaye found the delights of Yorkshire Puddings and is sat at hom munching on um ??? I've a feeling in mi watter that summerts wrong !!!
Ligue 2 kicks off at the weekend, Ligue 1 the weekend after. Any available French players - particularly young, hungry strikers from the top clubs that need to play and are not part of the plans for the season *might* become available in the next week or so. I'm sure we would consider a loan striker from PSG, Nice or Monaco just as much as we would from Chelsea, Arsenal or West Ham if they meet our criteria. However, young French players may struggle to settle in the UK and are probably more of a gamble than the equivalent young English player (and 20% more expensive than they were last year).
1). The UK population is 65 million 2). He was the best applicant for the position 3). How do you know he is not using his contacts. The French league might not have quite as much money, but the quality at the top end could even be better than the English one. 4). Go an see a doctor about your waterworks. UTIs are not pleasant (so I've heard!).
Of that 70 odd million how many are CEOs of professional football clubs or the next rung down ready to step up? Of those, how many do we think are good enough? Or maybe anybody of that 70 million could do the job? In which case there must be about 100 on here including me who'd give it a go.
I don't know. I don't work at the club unfortunately, but if you think we haven't had offers turned down either from players or clubs id find that surprising as a football supporter.
