It may be days old, I don't know, but I've just heard Hecky on the 5.30pm Sheff sports news saying that we are nowhere near having a suitable side for the new season. I know we already know this but.... What the hell has been going on at that club that has left us in such a fragile state with only three weeks to go? He admits we only have one striker. What happens if he gets crocked, we are totally in the deepest of deep poo. They have got our money for season tickets but it seems that once that is in the bank we can go fanny, we don't matter, Hecky will sort it, again, from scratch, again. I do question our transfer policy, both inwards and outwards, and as someone has said, how many other clubs have sold so many players or refused to pursue loans and yet brought in so few? One striker, for goodness sake! Three weeks to go. Should I be worried? You betcha.
Not mine. Saw this disgraceful and naive transfer policy coming since January and won't support the club dismantling itself.
Do you think it is a deliberate policy or is it all coincidental and now actually beyond our control?
I'm not going to worry as yet, I'm pretty sure just about every team in the entire football leagues are no where near where they want to be, do you honestly think we will start the season with 1 striker?
That is your choice but i will support bfc through the good times and the bad.Am i happy with everthing at bfc ? No .Am i going to batter the club for every decision they make and find negatives with even the good decisions made? Definitely not Which of these would all the doom and gloomers rather be saying at the end of the season "Told you so" or "I'm glad they proved me wrong"
Yeah I'm not worried at all. We've made plenty of promising signings but we still need 3-4. Striker especially. I'm glad that PH is saying this; would you rather him say- "nah, we've got enough players, we're finished with signing players now" ?
Do people really not see that PC is trying to secure the club financially for long after he's gone? Seems obvious to me
It's such a disgraceful policy isn't it? I mean, it's only got us promoted in 2 years and a far better season to the previous 8 in the Championship. Does it perhaps need some tweaking? Yes. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than what we were doing before? Absolutely Just 2 weeks ago people were praising the club massively for the signings made. We obviously need strikers and a few players in other positions. Feel we need the season to start to have something else to talk about because the 'plan' has been absolutely done to death in the last 2 weeks on here
Yes, I'm glad he is saying it too, but hasn't this been said for the best part of six months? We have Bradshaw, we had Armstrong and Watkins. Wasn't it obvious then that one was a loan player who was going back and the other was always going to leave due to contract non-renewal /acceptance? Poor old Bradshaw, he may be a good player, no problems there, but you had to feel sorry for the lad battling away on his own up front. Six months ago when the team started to dissipate was the time to look to replace, not three weeks before the start of the new season. Hecky said the under 23s are not ready to step up yet, unless one or more really make the grade very quickly, so he is admitting that we are in a poor state with what we've got. I wonder if he is as exasperated as I am at the lack of progress? I really do want to be saying at the end of the season, "I'm glad they proved me wrong."
I'm sure the club have considered this. Almost every club is on the look out for a proven or even half decent forward either to enhance their stock or just to stop rivals I don't want them to bring in strikers just for the sake of it nor do I want them to break the pay structure to sign a Lita etc. I'm sure there's players on our radar . Calm down a bit, I'm almost positive Bradshaw will not be our only option upfront come start of season
Just looked at Heckys interview from yesterday... he's says in future there's no point in selling players when it weakens the side and is detrimental to results. From Feb 1st that's what exactly happened.. So we'll see if he is listened to.
Did you hear the bit where he said "I won't sign any old player just to make the numbers up" and the part where he said " I WILL get the players in I want."
No, like he said he will get the players he wants.I suppose that means he will be patient until he gets the right players for our team.
I trust the policy. It ensures affordable players come to the club that actually want to be here. And whether people like it or not it ensure we have profit coming in from sales in the future. Yes we don't have all our work done yet. And yes it is worrying with the season quickly approaching. But the reason is simple. If we want quality we have to get it from the premier league and they are a week behind us currently. When they come back from their camps we'll see more first team players come in. And hopefully Ones with good quality at this level. I'd rather us wait and get the right players than saddler ourselves with 30 year old journey men who arnt bother about being at Barnsley. People moaning and buying a season ticket shouldn't have one. It's not a burden or Bill you have to pay. We buy one because we enjoy supporting and watching barnsley. Wait and see what happens and enjoy and support the outcome!
