Has said that Hecky was "so detailed" in what he told them about the club, moreso than what they've experienced before. Obviously players are going to be complimentary about a new club, but I've never come across comments like that before. Wonder what he tells them. Would love to be a fly on the wall to see how he sells the club to players.
For young players in a lower league it should be fairly easy. Just show them players who came to the club from non league and league 1 & 2 over the past couple of years who are now playing for either BFC as a Championship club or have moved on to perceived bigger clubs for highly increased wages. If that doesn't work flip up some pictures of Stones, Mawson and Holgate. If I was a young player as described above I'd bust a gut to play for BFC who would give me the chance not only to be part of something but also put me in a position to showcase my talent.
It is worth remembering what Mawson said when he signed for us ahead of Birmingham, when they were in the Championship and we were League One. I know that was Johnson, but the ethos will be the same. The club gave him a detailed analysis of their assessment of him from scouting reports, told them where he needed to develop his game and the way in which BFC would help him to do so. That, plus the captaincy offer, was good enough to get the deal done. it will be similar now.
That's the point - Hecky isn't just selling the club to potential signings - he's telling these players what exactly he wants from them and importantly how he's going to improve them as a footballer. The scouting system we have is brilliant.
Its all fake, we hear it almost everytime and it bugs me when our players leave and say how fantastic their new manager and new club are etc.
