But the way Winnall orchestrated his move left a nasty taste in the mouth. If the club agreed the fee and the player agreed terms then there is not much we can do about it. For what it is worth I am hearing Birmingham will be offering Roberts a lot more than Burnley would be prepared to offer in terms of wages.
Birmingham's new owners seem to be going absolutely mental with the cash. Surely there must be a case of the law of diminishing returns kicking in somewhere? What happened to FFP by the way? Does it still exist? Did it ever actually exist?
Too many ways to get around it from what I can see, The Fowls did the loan thing with the Rhodes to avoid FFP punishments from what I have read. Its just getting silly now, someone does need to step in and sort the rules out
All the signs sadly point to the fact that Robbo is going. Hecky has hinted at that but has remarked upon his professionalism re- " until you tell me otherwise I'm your player" etc. Hecky is quoted as saying he wants a left back, forwards and a winger and that Roberts cannot go until a suitable replacement is found which means he could be looking to bring someone in to complement Liam Lindsay and Gus Macdonald. The downside to all this activity if there is one of course is that it could take some time for a lot of new players to gel but with our "model" that's unfortunately the risk we have to take I suppose.! The one positive as someone has said is that GG mentioned in his interview that they might be ready to sit down with Yids and offer him a new deal. Let's hope that happens because as someone has also previously said there surely has to be some form of long termism in our future planning if we are to consolidate or hopefully challenge for promotion and avert the chance of Hecky and Co getting hacked off at the constant churn in playing staff.
Which defenders do you feel are good enough to step up? Robbo is a warrior. MacDonald is of that ilk but Jackson is as weak as piss and Kpekwa isn't interested. That leaves Lindsey, a big ask for him to step up straight away.
I think Jackson's good enough from what I've seen. He's made some errors but he's played about 10 games (and got a decent number of clean sheets in those) which is nowhere near enough time to write him off. If we judged Robbo on his first 10 games in League One he'd also be written off. I'd start the season with him and Angus personally to give more time for Lindsay to adapt Wasn't counting Kpekawa and we'll sign a couple more for the backline so things won't look too bad imo
It's on YouTube but said no bids received he's still very much a Barnsley player and will talk to him about new deal in coming days. Compared to how he spoke about Roberts it was a big difference Not to say he won't go but he sounded a lot more positive about Yiadom staying than Robbo
Who'd have thought Angus would have done so well in his first year after coming from Torquay which is a far lower standard than the SPL.
Aye. Conversely though I think a lot of fans including myself think that we can easily replace Roberts because we did so easily with Mawson. Doesn't always work like that but we really need it to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
