Ok what if we do get the apparent £5 mill from Brum and the wheeler deeler Harry Redknapp, whats going to happen to that money ? For me it should go on decent replacements and Id like to see us looking at a few elder players, and it sounds strange to call them elder when Im only talking about late 20s ish. If Roberts is going, who on here would be interested in Kevin Long again at Burnsley ? (if his name hasnt been mentioned already)
Burnley I could just about stomach given their league status but please let's not lose another star player to a division rival.
Probably comes down to terms. Roberts has not asked for a move and if it is for silly money then it gets re-invested. Roberts is a top player and bloke and where ever be goes he goes with my best wishes.
Yes Id echo that as well Tatty Jack lol, Roberts has done a good job for us in what seems like a short space of time. Look at the days when we would have gone mad over the mere whiff of £5 mill for one of our players, but by todays standards Im now thinking we're short changing ourselves again. How can teams like Peterbrough for example, ask the fees they do and usually get away with ?
As long as it's a premier league club then good luck to him. Hopefully we get what we want for him and we splash the cash on a replacement. I've a feeling the replacement could be Ethan Ebanks Landell from Wolves, he was at Sheffield United last season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hope Landell isn't the replacement, a few blades I know said he was a bit of a liability in league one and they say they do not want him back now they have been promoted.
Disappointing news of course but but for more than £5 million I would say it's a good deal. Especially if you compare it to Mawson who we got the same for with another year on his deal. Robbo's served us very well and was a free transfer so owes us absolutely nothing. I feel even the central defenders currently at the club are good enough to step up and replace him so with a couple more defenders our back line will be looking strong. Listened to Ganaye's interview yesterday and it sounded clear from what he was saying that Robbo would leave. Interesting what he said about Yiadom though. Sounded much more positive and even suggested a new contract
If it's silly money why does it matter which club he joins? He will probably move to somewhere paying 3 or 4 times more than he currently is on. We cannot pay those wages and rightly so.
It matters what club he joins because Championship clubs are our competitors. We were next to Wednesday in the league, sold them our top scorer and ended up way behind them (though admittedly he didn't do much for them). I'd rather we sold Roberts to Villa, who'll likely be way above us, than Birmingham who were rubbish last year. It'd help move another club ahead of us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
