Yes. On keeping Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins, Roberts and Scowen at this club for the next 2-3 years. Otherwise anyone we sign will be expensive substitutes who if history is anything to go by will not be suitable replacements. If we can resign those boys. Bring Morsy in permenently. And sign a few lower league gems to bed in and get ready for next year I'll be over the moon. Just please god no Keith Treacy, Emanual Frimpong, Brek shea, Crowley, Generic Premierleague U14.
Priority should be not selling any key players, especially Hourihane, Roberts Watkins Davis and Winnall If we can do a deal to make Morsy permanent that might be good If any go we need to splash the cash on replacements, otherwise if Hecky can bring in better players than we already have in any position I will be very happy
Yes let's not sign a Ashley Fletcher. Not like he shots all over most of the players in the champ and our squad. To the original post. Of course we need to add to the squad. If anyone comes up better than our current squad they have to go after them. Stand still and the only guarantee is we will gi backwards.
Should look to off load, Kayden Jackson, Elliot Lee. Bring another forward in to replace Armstrong. Can see Robbo moving on so need a decent replacement for him, Sign Morsy on a permanent deal in January. Hopefully club have it all in hand so they know how talks are going with players due out of contract. Would sign them all back on if possible.
Didn't think you read anyone else's opinion. When you say Fletcher shots all over the rest of the championship do you mean his shots per game? Asheley Fletcher is not any of the players I listed so what has he got to do with anything?? Very confused Philip. It's almost like you want to find fault yet you've tried to do so by using an unrelated example. Must try harder.
Work is needed on the defence. A replacement for Mawson a quality ball playing centre half is essential. More midfield cover in addition to Morsy. At least 1 winger preferably Isgrove. A centre forward hopefully a good one. Offer good contracts to our better players that show we value them without over stretching ourselves. If we cannot convince Conor and Sam to sign then look to bring in replacements to bed in.
I'm currently stood still. I am neither going forwards or backwards. Kettles taking an age to boil. Do you suggest I get a new one?
I dont reckon it much matters in January if we "stand still". A few small changes might be welcome but retaining our squad is essential. Then build on it next season. The close season is the time to review and make the big decisions.
Hopefully Morsy is confirmed as an official Barnsley player, we also have to react if Morsy & Yiadom get called up to the African cup of nations. I also want a back up central midfielder as Scowen's been used wide right which leaves us very thin on the ground with only Hourihane & Morsy for the central positions with young Kay going to be out injured for a while. As the squad are continuing to improve it's not essential to improve the first team but I definitely think a back up central midfielder & potentially a full back are needed. Hopefully Armstrong's loan is extended til May, if not another striker is needed as well.
Should we bring in any new signings, I hope they buy into the current ethos at the club of everything being done for the benefit of the team. If they're unwilling, or incapable, of doing so then I'd rather we didn't bother.
