Our back 4 were a shambles last night, particularly our full backs, defensively. Lansbury ripped us apart playing between our midfield and back line, especially in the first half. The three goals from open play all coming from wide areas. Yiadom has been useful filling in at left back, but his his lack of left foot has been apparent these last few games, totally unbalancing the side. Maybe it's time for Kpekwa to come back in? Either way I think number one priority in January is a left back. We can't rely on Aidy White to stay fit as good as he is. Offensively we were pretty good last night, which makes the result even more hard to swallow. We have a tough run of games coming up, so these last few games were great opportunities to take maximum points, unfortunately I can see us being dragged down the bottom by Christmas. We need to strengthen the squad in January to give us the best chance of survival. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think Morsy, White and MacDonald would immediately give the team a stronger look. Yiadom reverting back to right back of course.
I don't get this "shambles" of a performance. It wasn't what I saw. I saw a goalkeeping error for their first, a Hourihane failure to track their player who crossed it for the second (which fluked its way in), a pretty decent goal for their third and fourth (neither were dissimilar to our own first goal), and a soft pen for the fifth. Other than that, we probably played it around better than we have all season. Up until their fourth I was still optimistic, which for me is remarkable. It was all us for the first hour. After watching how Hammill played, I wished we'd played Kent. And we need a bigger better presence up front.
None of the goals were the fault of the full backs, and Kpekwa was utter t**s against Fulham, apart from that spot on <rolls eyes>
Last nite was not a shambles in any sense. Agree with you thread stopper. It's amazing how eazily people forget about the performance I a defeat. We move on!
