This is looking like a consistent pattern to me this season. We have a good number of shots but very few on target when compared with the teams who have climbed up the table past us. Is it coaching, is it confidence, or is it really a quality issue?
Marley had one blocked by the keeper at their near post in the first half that looked on target. Armstrong scoring a youth hat trick means very litttle because the standard is nowhere near championship level. We aren't playing Conor to his strengths so he's scored one in his last dozen and his asists have dried up.
How only one ? For sure Hourihane had a shot at the end. Marley. Had one well saved first half. And Armstrong had one blocked So at least 3 on target. Should have been more of course
We were saying walking away from the game that so much of our possession was passed across the back four in our own half. Thought second half in particular Jackson was very inefficient and slow at moving the ball.
Personally though alot of our possesion was on the halfway line and that Jackson dealt with the ball pretty well and also defended effectively
We had 4 or 5 good chances against a team that set up happy to take a point, not much more we could've done. The reason we passed more than usual was because they didn't commit players forward & left us less room to create chances as they generally had plenty of players back to defend. We deserved 3 points but didn't take our chances, in other games like Wolves away & Rotherham at home we have, just one of those things. Not worried
