Vardy going away from the balls massive for them. I think Sturridge and Kane aren't helpful to the three behind them at times. They go into their space a lot especially Lingard and Lallana who need space inbetween midfiel and defence.
Sterling is a problem, doesn't want to pass a ball and gets caught in possession every time, speed is not everything if you give the ball away every time.
Enjoyed that first half. Using the press to perfection. Using our main strong point - pace. I think having a succession of weak qualifying groups over the last ten years has been to our detriment. Much rather see us up against Spain et al whether they're depleted or not. Looking forward to the second half.
For me a lot of these players aren't suited to playing against teams that want to sit back and defend. From our defence to striker tonight. It's suited for these bigger games against better players. We've got to stick with them. I would personally like to see Welbeck upfront. He's a little bit more rounded thannVardy and Rashford. Not a fan of Sturridge. Okay cool infront of the sticks but doesn't give you anything outside the 18 yard box and Klopp doesn't like that and neither do I. Want to see Shaw in the deal. Really like Clyne in the team.
It isn't the pace of Vardy making us better, it's the fact he actually wants to stay up front. Sturridge is never in the box.
As usual, we've looked half decent in a game against quality opposition. The problem England suffers with is breaking down average teams who like to stick 11 men behind the ball. It's no wonder that we seem to put up a fight against France, Spain and Germany (albeit in friendlies) but then struggle against Slovenia and Estonia. We're just far too patient in the games against arguably weaker opposition and lack that one talismanic player that every other nation seems to have (the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Lewandowski, Robben, Mandzukic etc) is also a factor. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
We look ok against good teams in meaningless friendlies played at training pace. Not so much in proper games.
Magic from Aspas and awful defending from Jagielka in that crazy last few minutes. Still enjoyed that. I'd give it Southgate.
If we still had Adams, Cole, Neville and Terry at the back .... With the current crop of forward thinking laikers blessed with pace and some great attacking play we'd win sommet! But we haven't. Thanks
