Sister rang them this morning to check they had kids away kit in as she is buying my son it for christmas. Was told it's out of stock and wouldn't be getting anymore until after christmas !!!

She has got to have heard it wrong surely ?

Picked my Burton tickets up this morning and lad in store was on phone saying same, could have been the same conversation.

Was told the same after the Fulham game when I asked about home and away kit for my son at Christmas. Out of stock, no more being ordered.

I rang Genesis sports who supply the replica kit. Nothing they can do other than supply the template red shirt, only the club can sell a full replica top. They were "surprised" no more were being ordered by the club.

I genuinely think this is a very well run club, but think they should take back control of that circus that is the club shop.

Another example of their failings, last Xmas, sister in law went to buy my son the away shirt. Surprise, surprise - no stock, so they persuaded her to buy a gift voucher so he could get one when the stock came back in. They stock never did come back in so he chose to save the voucher to buy the new home shirt in May. So launch day comes, they had stock - gift voucher expired in March!!!

They do? Then I am shocked. Thought they outsourced it in a similar way to the catering. Still robbed a young lad of £40 though!!!

I think that as important as going after fake merchandise is, they should concentrate more on supplying their fans with what they want which is replica kit from this season and better choice. Re releasing a shirt from 20 years ago that many people already have doesn't make up for the lack of away kit, female choice, kids choice etc.

The club shop staff are let down by some very odd behind the scenes stuff. Woefully run. Had to make sure I got my sons kit in oct to ensure he had the correct kit to be mascot in Jan. Amateur, we are meant to be a championship side after all.

Club shop and box office staff are a credit to the club and like you say their jobs aren't always made easier by things behind the scenes.

Agreed with this, as absolutely rubbish as our club shop undoubtedly is, the front line staff are fantastic. Which if you think about it, they really must be for people to still acknowledge that in the midst of all the general amateurness and not just right the whole thing off.

Be about right. I ordered a nippers kit in August. They've taken payment at point of sale.

It's due 'some time in November' . No date.

They outsourced it to just sport a few years ago but got it back when we switched to puma for the kits. I've no idea why it is so badly stocked because I've racked my brain and I honestly can't think of any good reason for it. In league one budget could be a reason but not now

You have box office staff constantly asked the same questions like how many tickets have we sold or being asked things people can Google in a minute such as ticket prices, catergories etc.

Then you have the club shop workers who have to deal with a bad lack of stock and things not being ordered in so early in the season which means they get the brunt of people having a go as the faces of the shop even though it's not their problem.

Don't forget to claim your £5 shirt discount for season ticket holders which they well published when having a big pre-season purge on season tickets, but then told me did not exist when I bought both my kids home shirt pre-season. Only once I found the advertisement and emailed did they acknowledge this and refunded me £5 per shirt.

Hope I don't sound negative here though as the staff are a grand bunch, just don't see so much of them as they don't have much of interest for sale...

The club shop is a joke. Full of the tackiest tack anyone could imagine. It's a shame. Compare it to a club like Huddersfield's well stocked and full of stuff a sensible adult might actually buy.

It annoys me no end that gift vouchers have an expiry date.

However you dress this up or whoever is to blame for what is a massive **** up, the club are missing out on free money. A Barnsley shirt bought for a young un might be the catalyst to him/her becoming interested enough to start going regularly requiring an adult that may not be bothered, into also buying a ticket and on and on it goes. They'll push and push for season ticket sales pre season but yet miss a trick like this. It surely can't be allowed to happen next season
