lets just say that anybody who moans now about how the club interacts with the fans ought to have witnessed what it was like 20+ years ago - we have moved on a million miles for the better now than we were then.

I played for the supporters club team in the early 90's - we sometimes played on the old Co-op ground behind the away end and one particular game we only had one ball and it was flat and the club refused to blow the ball up for us or let us borrow another ball. That's how bad it was!

I remember those days - was on bus to Luton when you lot played their fans' team, somebody was on about the club saying 'we run a football club not a charity' when someone had asked for some spare kit. Happy days.

Yes that's right, we had a clash of colours with some team, who I can't remember now, but they had travelled a fair way to play us so had a really early start and we asked the club for 11 different coloured shirts or 11 training bibs and they said no!

For a one off game against Southend, our attendances have not been below 5,500 since the 70's

I remember about 3800 against Grimsby mid 90's when the standing areas were all shut.

Club didn't want to help us at all. We ended up designing and having our own kit made and even got ourselves a sponsor.

Quite a few low attendances post strike. A Machin season we had quite a few gates between 4 and 5 thousand.

Whenever we've struggled at this level I've heard people say we should be doing better, we've spent longer than anyone in this division, as if we should be here by default.

When you look at that division 20 years ago, and see some of the opposition compared to today it's pretty obvious that football has changed drastically.

I think the reason some of us older fans enjoy the good times and don't get too critical when we don't win, is that we've seen the football before and after the money started to come in and are realistic in our expectations.
