My grandma has a fire int kitchen. Gas fire perfect working condition but the ignition switch on the side is a little awkward due to her arthritis and dexterity in the hands. She's wanting to replace it with once of those portable bar fires. My only concern is given that she is liable to fall asleep and end up with it either over heating or her somehow in a moment of Darwinism setting herself on fire. Is there any sensible alternatives that will produce a degree of heat similar to one of those and secondly any recommendations.
Is there no way of modifying the gas fire to make the ignition easier to use? Try contacting the manufacturer, I'm sure some do alternatives that can be retrofitted (by a qualified person)
Only thing I can recommend Deetee is something like the DeLonghi Oil Filled radiator we have. Not instantaneous heat obviously, but it throws out some serious heat and has a timer, thermostat, safety cut off, etc. 2kW output the one we have.
They were doing something very similar to this at KDA Automatic cut out if tipped over, https://www.ezhomeware.com/showplarge.aspx?prodid=3241&catid=281&gclid=CLzCiqmJ888CFda4GwodMKUDZw
