I don't profess to be a coach, but if Hammill is occupying three men as per your example, a simple pass to the nearest red shirt will allow us to move it and exploit a hole somewhere else. That is one of the problems. Hammill needs to do the simple thing more often.
Yes , dozens of them , in fact the keeper probably received more passes than any single player on the park .
Leicester won the Premier League playing 442...and Watford were promoted to the PL the year before as Championship runners up playing 442 ...and stayed up comfortably with 45 points .
We're unlikely to be gifted goals as softly as we gave away ....no system legislates for rank bad defending and a lucky cross finding it's way in .
442 has served us just as well, stretching midfields and opening up space in the middle. A lot of goals have come this way. The worst thing we could do is set up to match the opposition, because man for man, we're likely to come up against a better player in each position. We do need a fall back formation when out of possession and under the cosh, but it's not time to press the panic button just yet. This is a rare, largely football based post.
all past history, leicester doing rubbish in premiership now managers got to grips with it and the all in wrestling at corners been stopped, done ok against lesser lights in champions league so far who are not used to it yet, watford have stopped playing it now and play 352 or 532 mostly, times move on and we must or be relegated
they over ran us down the left time and time again , even the cross that went in was down to us not being able to stop there forward momentum ,because we were over run
because we have a massive gap between the midfield and defence when our wingers are out wide, forcing yiadom to com inside to almost centre half, time and time again teams play it out to his empty ,wing back/full back position, leeds scored from it , newcastle scored from it reading got pen from it, villa scored from it, brighton ,scored from it ,could go on 4 2 3 1, gives us 5 in midfield when defending allowing fulbacks to be full backs
Last night the formation certainly wasn't the problem as you cannot compensate for individual mistakes. I don't believe we currently have the personnel to play a different form of system. Given our current points total exceeds what any of us thought then it would be daft to write it off. Villa scored whilst we were playing a different system. The other goals mentioned stem from individuals rather than the collective. People get too hung up on systems. Work out who you best players are build a side around them. It's simple.
Keep 4-4-2 It's the reason we've got and signed the players we have We're doing ok pointswise and positionwise Attack is our far better option than trying to defend. UTR!
well was right that adam was getting so stressed with the system ,he was going to throw a wobbler, got my wish of Watkins down the right, defending our left side, but was kent not hammill as our single winger, least it worked ,no goals conceded and 2 goals from players getting in box
I'll have to disagree slightly with the sentiment that the players we signed fit in this formation. It can be argued that both Lee and Moncur struggle to fit in it due to being more suited in the AM role. I suppose D'Almeida too to a certain extent, however I suppose they are all there for when we do need a change in formation (well if they weren't injured/out on loan). I do agree though that we don't need to fix something that isn't broken. We simply aren't going to beat everyone. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Elliot Lee is a waste of a signing. We could have brought in another central midfielder or proper left back cover instead of him.
