So basically what you are saying is if you book a hotel room you think are entitled to shag anybody you find there?

Good point. It does seem improbable.

Are you supposed to find anyone in a hotel room that you book?

    Hostel room maybe.

How do you know she lied?

    You don't.

How do you know that he didn't rape her?

    You don't

You don't seem to be able to grasp the difference between a lack of evidence and the truth.

I don't know what happened either, which is why, rather than lambasting a girl, or indeed Ched, for something that either may or may not have done, I haven't formed an opinion either way.

He'll get compo for the time that he's served, which based on the lack of evidence, he probably deserves. She should be allowed to move on and live her life. There is absolutely no proof that she's a liar, and accusing her of doing so without knowing any of the facts is precisely the reason why thousands of rapists never see jail.

    No it isn't.

They don't face jail because either they don't report it, or because there is insufficient evidence to convict.

And why do you think they don't report it?

There'll be dozens of sexual assault cases which won't have been reported due to the circus that has been the Ched Evans saga alone.

Could be a hundred different reasons. If they think it's rape then they should.

    That may well be true.

But with regard to this particular case, Mr Evans has served time which he will never get back, for a crime he now has been found not to have committed.

The whole problem with this case is that it was perverse to find him guilty of rape in the first place.

They can know 100% it is rape but still not report it. Including but not limited to the witch hunt they'll face if there is not enough evidence for a guilty verdict. There are people all over social media calling her (and other women where the accused has not been found guilty) a whore and saying she should be jailed/actually raped now as punishment. Why would anyone risk coming forward?

Factually incorrect. He served 2 years of a 5 year sentence for something they cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt that he did. This is obviously wrong and should not have happened. Compensation is probably not good enough but it's the best he's going to get. Still doesn't prove that he did not commit a crime.

I don't know the full ins and outs, but based on the evidence provided, a jury believed beyond all doubt that he raped the girl. The infomation which has come out since then is what has caused the subsequent retrial.

How do you know she did?

I know someone who was sexually abused by a guy multiple times but refuses to report it due to the **** they would face for no gain as there is no way they could get evidence to prove it. People like you and AthersleyRed would want her branded as a **** and locked up for 4 years.

    Oh dear.

    Where do I start Archey?

Firstly he's been found not guilty of a crime. If you can't prove it beyond reasonable doubt, then in this case it's not criminal. It PROVES he did not commit a crime. Innocent (now) till proven guilty.

Secondly, by the time I type this then someone must already have done an "ins and outs" joke. You left out "reasonable" for some reason further down your post, which is strange.

It cannot be factually incorrect that he will get this time back (although our recently crowned poet Bob Dylan seemed to think this was possible in his classic "Joey").

Finally, it was always a strange conviction. Always.

I know a girl who got caught shagging a random lad in a bar toilet while her bf was outside. She claimed he was raping her but the girl who was in the next cubicle who knew her said she was 100% consenting. That went to court. This kind of **** happens far too frequently and the girl never gets any kind of punishment.

I can stick the other reasonable in if you like.

Other than that we'll have to agree to disagree.
