They showed in this series what a SQUAD they have got. It's impressive to watch. They get knocks but they just seem to get back up and throw the next punch and it puts them back on track. Now it wasn't all good today but I will talk about that at the end. The youngsters looking good. Duckett and Billings. The two all-rounders at the top showing some of the more experienced guys how to play in a style they aren't used to. Also a massive well done to Stokes, this guys the ultimate team player but he can pull rabbits out of the hat so many times. Good luck to the selectors picking the next team. England without the first 4 batsmen today and two got 50's, the least experienced two of the 4 also which was briliant to see for English cricket. Well done to Jos Butler too. I've not been Jos's biggest fan in Test cricket but in limited overs hes some player. Now he didn't score the most runs today but he scored the runs he did in a great manor. Now the less desirable parts of the team. First up, James Vince. Sorry but he let two less experienced players show him how to play once again. He doesn't read the game at International level. Moeen Ali. Sorry you have so much talent why do you play the way you do? this half-hearted shot time and time again or the big whoosh straight into a fielder's hand. It's not like the team needs 8 per over when he comes in over there. Liam Dawson should be infront of him in odi cricket. Liam Plunkett. Think Liam's ODI days are coming to a end real quickly. Just don't think he's got it anymore espcially in such conditions. ------------------ Anyway. It's going in the right direction for England which is brilliant to see. Anyone got 11's for the Champ Trophy?
That first paragraph could be some of us describing the Reds season. Some of us Sent via Royal Mail and typed up by my Tapatalk byatch
Andy, don't embarrass yourself You are comparing a team that's lost to Leeds with in all truthfulness some not complete talents should I say to be nice to a team that truely believes it can be world number ONE in all formats in the next couple of years. It's like comparing John Stones and Dele Alli to Mark Roberts and Sam Winnall.
1. Don't think you've understood the joke properly 2. No one is comparing England ODI cricketers to Barnsley footballers 3. Not sure why we'd care about Mark Roberts he plays for Fleetwood 4. You wouldn't compare Alli to Winnall because they play different positions 5. Learn to take a joke the only one who embarrasses himself is you
Not sure I can Plobby. They are such a confident team. All depends on form in 9 months time. I really like Jason Roy, think hes a good player especially at the grounds they will play it. Trent bridge, Edgbaston and the Kia Oval? Big scoring grounds all three. Plenty of reward for good shots. Can hit sixes at all grounds and England have scored massive scores in the last 18 month at the midlands grounds. Not sure about the Oval though even though didn't they beat SA their in the last ICC Champ Trophy at that ground even though it's a pretty mucha different game these days Sorry it's not at trent bridge but Cardiff. Can't remember if England have done well there
If it was tomorrow: Hales Roy Duckett Root Buttler Stokes Moeen Wokes Rashid Willey Ball I think Morgan must play though because of legal/contractual stuff . So that would mean Duckett would miss out which is a shame cos he's in better form than morgan.
It's a thread about cricket and you've still managed to shoehorn how much you don't rate Roberts and Winnall in here. Sometimes I think you don't want to be taken seriously. I see your point, by the way. But you could have chosen any other striker and defender in the country for that sentence, including the Premiership kids who you like so much. But you didn't. You chose two players who everyone on here a) likes and b) knows you don't like. Why? Sam Winnall doesn't even play in the same position as Alli!
I don't think they have to pick anyone. I think they like Morgan the Captain. He's Mr Cool on and off the wicket. In a way it would be nice for England to maybe send the very best second string to say Ireland for a little tour in the summer if they would like it and do a mini tour. That include 2 tests 3 odi's and a couple of T/20's. Get that playing international tough cricket instead of county and A tour matches. They could even play the UAE say away and maybe even invite the better teams to play first class cricket. Afganistan maybe? Real test of spin cricket against players that grow up on it. Some will complain about the national team, they always do but how good would it be for them to create a club England will lays in it.
The champions trophy is in England, I'm not sure a practice match against the 'spin of Afghanistan ' is the answer. I would say 8 out of the 11 are already in place the remaining 3 would depend on form .
Yes! Great idea! Let's further destroy the historic heartbeat of the game (the County Championship) by denuding it of talent to play meaningless biff bash cricket in Ireland. I'd rather have a Team Yorkshire than a Team England thanks very much. Team Yorkshire! I'm starting to sound like a money grubbing Sky hype merchant there.
I wasn't saying it to be practice for the Champ Trophy. It's a way of developing the game for our players.
Ireland will soon be a test playing nation. It would be great to help them become this and be ready for this when it happens. By doing this it could also be a help to the ecb. I would like to see England play all formats of cricket in Ireland. The First team are already playing them in May of this year.
