Also Martin Patterson, still only 29. Bought by Burnley from Scunny for a million, and played in prem, then seemed to disappear. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
So in this 2nd half, Williams has been playing a bit further forward up the right. Causing a few problems as picked up on by the commentators. Then Robinson brings off a centre half for Nicky Maynard and goes to 3 at the back with Williams at centre half. Threat over. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Just watched both games, and feel blessed to be back in the Championship. Not so much for the standard of football, but it's just great to see away fans again, extra few thousand home fans and to sample a bit of atmosphere. Long may it continue Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Went to America, poor standard of football, guessing he wasn't cut out for a high level when he came back.
Huddersfield fan said he had a few injuries when he went there and never really made an impact. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Just regarding MK Dons, what an utterly soulless match day experience that place is. It's a top notch stadium to be fair but obviously 4/5 empty, absolutely zero noise from anywhere, you could hear the players shouting to each other on TV. A few kids screams could be heard when they got a late corner but if I was Pete Winkleman, I'd be pretty disappointed with how it's turned out. They've got some quality players as always for League One, a great youth system but I just don't see the club ever going anywhere due to the apparent lack of interest from the locals. I've been twice and the home fans don't really seem like football supporters to me, more bored, wealthy families looking for something to do on a Saturday. As they stagnate on the pitch under Karl Robinson, I reckon they'll end up struggling to make much impact above League Two level in future years.
I thought theyd come a long way from the days of the National Hockey Stadium but as you say, they just haven't pushed on. They've been around long enough to have grown a bit of a fanbase, but it's not going to be something that's passed from father to son for some time. One of my mates is a Wimbledon fan, and he hates them with a passion. I'll be looking forward to their meeting. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Well what did they expect, really? You can't steal another club's identity and league place, dump the new organisation in a soul-less new town and expect the people of North Bucks to suddenly become regular and committed football fans. They had a go, it sort of worked for a while but now it's fading into obscurity. The REAL Dons will be laughing their socks off.
Oh I agree, it was always a complete farce. But I did actually think that given the size of Milton Keynes and lack of large/successful clubs in the immediate vicinity, the club would start to attract crowds of 10-12,000 or so regulars, especially considering their decent results over the years. I know you can't just create loyal fans, but considering they way clubs like Brighton have increased their crowds so quickly when given the opportunity to watch football in a nice stadium, I thought more MK residents would jump on the bandwagon. As an aside, I'd like to see MK Dons drop the 'Dons' part. They retained the moniker as an attempt to appear a legitimate successor to the real Wimbledon, irritatingly insisting they were still essentially the same club. Now AFC Wimbledon are about, Milton Keynes FC should be sufficient and allow AFC to have the 'Dons' nickname all to themselves.
