Went in 1977, guess it's a bit different now.

It'll be cloudy pal in February . The north or the island always is . It's good though different to the usual resort . My advice would be to get yourself a car and have a whizz round the island . There's one thing it'll be warmer than here .

I go to tenerife for 3 week in January and I can tell you probably more than most. Weather averages will tell you it's about 19 degrees... however it'll be mid 20s everyday and a low of about 19 at night.

However with you staying in cruz it'll more than likely be cloudy, and you should expect light rainfall during your stay. You would have been better booking to go to the south of the island but you'll still have lovely weather.

Puerto de la cruz is stunning too mate, one of the most beautiful areas on the island.

Type 'Mount Teidi' into Google and then let us know if you are still going!!! I will be going to La Gomera soonish and it is not concerning me. Amazing how the different newspapers have reported the story from the alarmist Mail and Sun to the intellectual and balanced Independent. Are you still going?

To get permission to go up Mount Teidi (strange they call it 'Mount' with it being a stonking great mountain) we had to go to Puerto de la Cruz to get permission to go to the summit. (no problem getting the cable car up to just below the summit)

Plenty of night life in the south of the island but the beaches a tad disappointing.

Haha it'll never blow in our time mate. Doesn't concern me at all really, I'd be more worried about some isis nutjack travelling 70 miles over the ocean from Morocco and causing bother.

Funny actually as we spoke to this Spanish guy whistle in gran canaria who told us that Mt. Teide has 100s of earthquakes every year but nothing is reported as they don't want tourism to stop.

The above is correct. We stayed in Santa Cruz and there's a large difference in climate between the north and south. The north is frequently cloudy and rainy, whereas the south seems quite arid.

Hire a car and explore - it'll only cost around £8 a day.
