"Championship Barnsley are the subject of takeover interest. The Sun says Gianluca Festa is the brains behind an Italian bid for Championship high-fliers Barnsley. The former Middlesbrough defender and his group are keen to buy an English club and have approached the Oakwell club. Now they hope they can persuade owner Patrick Cryne — a Tykes fan - to sell." From Alan Nixon so maybe to be taken with a pinch of salt but got to think there's no smoke without fire.
Thanks for posting that. It would be interesting to see if any deal struck would see Barnsley Council continuing as part owners of the Land?
I hope so, as this effectively puts the land assets in trust. This would stop a Glazier situation, and stop any prospective buyer from borrowing against the assets and putting the club in debt.
Festa was born in Cagliari, the same as Massimo Cellino. Festa was the one who was going to replace Brian McDermott as manager of, uh, Cellino's Leeds. I am thinking no, thanks. **** off, Gianluca.
Itsa allright, whatsa matter you, I gotta your best interests at heart.... or ata least inna my wallet..... TRUST ME !!
No doubt Mr Houghton will agree to it then he really can have his vision of a Tuscan village, if they offer him a villa there ...
Agreed , but Patrick is not getting any younger and its not certain that his descendants want to take up the reigns when he decides to hang up his boots. We do need to be looking for incumbents to pick up that baton and run with it. I would prefer someone like the Crynes rather than an overseas "rich kid" who will treat it like a toy... when we look around at other teams that have this scenario then you have to worry. Cardiff, Leeds, Wolves to name just 3.... I would rather be in league 2 and be run as honestly as we are now TBH.
It would be a disaster What's the first thing they would do? Bring in their own man as manager - Hecky out the door.
Get us to the premiership so to deal with extra demand and because west stand is so highly thought of they would just put an upper tier on the Ponte instead. To deal with extra traffic issues they would make the ponte car park multi storey.
