we have played 11 games, which could have given 33 points... we have 16... approximately half of what was on offer. if we end up with just a point or two under the half then that means we will be in the 60 to 70 point range. That's top half and maybe even a scrape into play-offs. Now lets go a bit further. This team is not that massively changed with new players from last season... we have let one or two go... we have taken on one or two also. They are still coming together to some extent, so to be where we are just now is fantastic IMHO. ALSO we have just had the public eye upon us in the "SAMGATE" affair.... that cannot have helped anyone at Oakwell. We have the international break now, I hope that Hecky and all the backroom boys at Oakwell take that and use it well..... maybe even a bonding trip somewhere. But to be honest I think we are still in good shape and will be playing at least Championship football next season.... if we manage a leap higher then that's great.... but lets just take it one step at a time... YOOOOOOO RREDDDDDZZZZZZZZZ
Victims of our own early success? Even though we've only taken 1 point from our last 4 games, I don't feel that were out of our depth like last time we were in this league. Goals have dried up a bit, but we're still having a good share of games. Hopefully Payne will be near fitness after this break, as he offers something different to what's currently available. I think we're going to do well not to get stuffed in a game with the defensive resources we have. Yiadom is better coming forward than he is at the back Kpekawa is green cover for White There's no experienced cover for Roberts/Angus I thought we needed experienced league backup at centre half and left back BEFORE Mawson went and we ended up getting neither. That's disappointing with the finances now at our disposal. If anything we also have too many options out wide and up front, causing Hecky to think he has to shuffle to keep people happy. We haven't put together a well balanced squad.
We are what we are Steve, and for half of our games it's served us better than many of us could have expected after the step up. Maybe January will necessitate a different approach in terms of recruitment, and some of the money could be well spent. As of now, I'm not too worried. I acknowledge the shortcomings that you've pointed out, and it feels like we're all part of some club project, but as I say. I'm not too worried at the moment. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
