Hi there, can someone help please?

ive never played any of the fifa games, so have no idea as to the gameplay. So please excuse my ignorance as to the following question :-
Do any of the yearly versions have a mode whereby you can just be a manager and there is no arcade play necessary at all?
ie you scout, buy, pick, etc the players and then just leave them to it. Or do you have to do any sort of arcade play? Ie you have to tackle, dribble, shoot individual players etc?

    thanka in advance
    a game playing dinosaur :)

Yes, I think Fifa 14 or 15 onwards has the just Manager mode. You can simulate matches, or watch them in their entirety. Its not as complex as playing Football Manager though, but its getting better with every release. Not sure how the new version on the 360 will fair though as it will probably be very different to the xbone version as I think its using a different or cut down game engine.

Fifa 16 you can sim a match on manager career but you can't watch which is a shame. You can employ a 3 max scouts for young players and you can scout pro players and find their ratings/value. Very business based and you can control the transfer/wage budget ratio.
You can also create your own player and have a career with Barnsley or anyone you like.

Have you tried the Football Manager franchise? 2017 is coming out in a month or so. This is a very in-depth management simulation though, and it's very easy to sink many many hours into the game even as a grown adult(!)

Get football manager instead, it's out in November, there is an in depth mode or the classic mode which is less in depth if you don't have the time.

Thank you all for your input.
I used to have a ps2 and play the lma manager franchise, but that was back in 2006 and it's not existed since then! :)
Someone's just given me a Xbox 360, so trying to find something similar to my back in the day memories.
    Much appreciated everyone

The football manager franchise is PC only, do you have a decent computer you could run it on? You'd see it as a pretty natural successor to LMA - much more in-depth though!

This football manager - sorry for being completely ignorant - how does it work?

Does it go a whole season in real time?

Or does that not matter cos you're in a kind of fantasy land?

In fact, I can now think of oodles of questions. But if someone were sufficiently patient as to explain even the basics, i would be most grateful.

My most earnest final question would be.......how do you think Red Rain would get on?
