1 word pathetic.... I know there's been vandalism and poor behavior in the top corner and I'm aware it needs sorting but the way they are going about it is an absolute farce. Stopping every man and his dog from going in the stand until they have checked the ticket then trying to eject anyone who couldn't produce one. I couldn't produce mine as I always give it to my dad as I get into the ground so I don't lose it (again). It's stupid I went for a wee and was asked again when I came back. To be fair the young lad who was checking said he saw me go and let me pass but the obnoxious pillock in the blue coat was stopping everybody and being very heavy handed using foul language and grabbing people without justification. I wouldn't of been surprised if he had caused a riot the way he was carrying on.....
I'm not sure that would stop the trouble at back of the ponty end.... I just can't see why everyone has to be treat like a hooligan because of the idiots at the back. CCTV and the database of season ticket holders should be enough to either catch them in there seat or if they are moving about get the cctv and some pictures printed off and ban them to be ejected when seen in the ground.
They were the same against Reading, the guy in the blue was a ****** then. He kicked a girl and the youngest looking lad out in the first minute for sitting in the wrong seat despite 10/11 in that area being in the wrong seat. Apparently the guy in blue got really aggressive with the girl when she questioned why she needed to give him her address.
I just don't see what looking at the ticket at the gangway accomplished. You could go through and sit anywhere anyway.
Perhaps its easier to get someone not to even attempt the gangway to the wrong seat then it is to move them once they are in the seat.
Correct. Old men, kids, no demarcation between the idiots in the top corner and the rest of us. It will kick off big style if they carry on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our season tickets state gangway 3, but we always use gangway 2 as its easier to get to our seats that way. The Geordie steward in the blue jacket told us to go back as it was easier getting to out seats that way, told him it wasn't as our seats were nearer 2 than 3 then he let us through Sent from my X5pro using Tapatalk
but if you really want to sit somehwere else you can just go through the gangway stated on your ticket then walk round.
We once had this problem years ago, mid 90's ish. Stewards being aggressive with supporters, then one night game against Pompey it call came to a head, not a peep out of the stewards after that night. I've never seen scenes like that at Oakwell, l wasn't there for the Leeds game of the early 80's.
I remember that. It was when we still had standing and it all kicked off in front of the West Stand. The stewards got a hiding and ran away.
It was all seating. A large bin was thrown from mid way up the Ponty where the disabled viewing is down onto the stewards at the front, that's what started it all. A huge brawl then kicked off in the West behind the dug outs, one lad scrapping in the old tunnel with a steward after chasing him up there. A few Wombwell lads appeared in court for it and received bans which carried over onto the Prem season.
The one in the blue has a bad attitude. Fair enough stop the little nobheads from smashing seats up. But giving 50 n 60 year old blokes a hard time who have been at oakwell long before them int on. Bet he got bullied at school trying to get his revenge now, he should have been a traffic warden.
I spoke to the Stewards gaffer at the previous home match . The problem they are addressing is seat damage and the use of flares . This current method is flawed ....it's not explained clearly to anyone and that's leading to decent fans being brassed off...it's also time consuming with Stewards checking tickets of the vast bulk of regulars who only sit in their allocated seats . The sensible way is to watch them on the cctv and lift the perpetrators , and only the perpetrators , If it's done during the game , concentrate the Stewards on the access points to prevent others getting involved . Alternatively do it at half time and pull the troublemakers as they go down to the concourse or enter the stands when they're half empty to get the ones who stay in . The problem the Stewards have is the club safety officer is setting the agenda , I would suggest the safety officer gets into the stand and addresses the issue in person.
Yep,no plod in the ground that night and it kicked off during the game with some lads in the west stand ,they ragged a couple out with one steward caught on camera sticking the nut on one kid who was being held by another steward but it was what happened after that sparked the main bother. All of us sat at the top end of the Ponty witnessed stewards hiding behind the west stand and waiting for the lads still left in group they had trouble with earlier, one by one as they went to bog or whatever they were set upon by these cnuts given a slap and then thrown out, all witnessed by the Ponty regulars. With five minutes of the game left these stewards move onto west stand terracing and stood next to fence that separates the west stand from the old Ponty end paddock as soon as the ref blew the final whistle lads from both the Ponty and the west went for the stewards and gave 'em a good hiding.......so think on tubby.
