First half. Thought Barnsley did okay. They are a talented team but Barnsley looked nice a team that was disciplined. But for a little bit of fortune and the better pass we could have got in at them. Always enjoy watching Scowen play further up the pitch. Think he's got attributes to play that role and I think he enjoys it. If he can only get that 3rd or 4th touch sorted he could open in defences with ease.

Second half. What happened. They say in cricket a dropped catch goes through the team like a disease and you could say that about miss passes tonight deep in the pitch. Every single one of the including Morsy did it. Bad pass or not choiceing the first pass and then turning and then turning again and getting the ball dispossessed. Thought we missed that calmer head at the back today. Mawson whom left only weeks ago would have atleast tried to calm things down and gone to the in to out pass over their left full backs head and put pressure back on the oppo.

Good to see Hammill back smiling today. Think the drop might do him good.

Winnall, now I'm reading non-celebration and walking straight off at the end of the match?

Just watching the goal back. Now people will jump on this but couldn't Roberts get out and cover one did with Yiadom. I'd imagine AY would have been able to cover one side but both against a top player was too much.

    --------------------------------------------

    onto saturday.

What would people do? Morsy, would you keep him in? for me today he wasn't at 100% but he played okay. Broke up play a bit inculding getting a yellow. Now I don't mind this at all. Their player running onto the back four and he took one for the team. Wish someone had done that against Reading in the last home game.

    --------Davies
    Bree Roberts Mcdonald Kpekawa
    -------------Morsy
    -----Hourihane Scowen
    Kent----------------------Hammill
    ------------Armstrong

I would like to see Kent play inbehind Armstrong. Think with AA's pace inbehind pulling them back would give RK so much space to pull the strings. He must be the most comftable player off both feet since Butterfield. If he can get into the pockets like Buttfield did with kents trickery and pace then it can only be good. Doesn't seem to have the shot of Butterfield though

Why you keep saying "Barnsley" not "we" when you're a fan? Makes it sound like you're talking about a random club.

I don't even know why I'm typing this, but why are you saying Barnsley instead of 'we/us'.

Secondly, why the question about Winnall without actually adding to the point? Just ask a question and not tell us what you think? it does seem like there is an ulterior motive.

Like I said I don't know why Ive even typed this, because I know what this thread is going to end up like and also, you'll just ignore what I'm intimating.

    Ones answered above.

On Winnall, I'm asking what people think. I don't really want to comment too much on it.

I've just gone and quickly typed through that.

What's the point in asking if you don't want to comment about it?

Hemsworth - I find you normally quite irritating on here and I do think you have some agendas when making points.

However, I'm gonna defend you a bit here in fairness as people are having a go because you've referred to 'us' as 'Barnsley' instead of 'we'.

Just to make a point, if you read what he's put, he does actually refer to Barnsley as we twice. That's as many times as he refers to us as Barnsley.

Some other posters refer to us as Barnsley in match reports - it's a stylistic device. I can't remember who from the top of my head but I know I've definitely seen it on here before from people other than Phil, and he's taking a bit of unfair stick here.

For me, Yiadom has consistently been one of our better performers. Difficult to believe he was playing for Barnet last year. He's got Championship class stamped all over him. He'd be the first name on the team sheet. You want to drop him.

Football is all about opinions and there will always be differences, but it really does seem that how a player actually performs is secondary to you, with the age of the player and where they're from taking precedence. It's very difficult to discuss the game at all with you when that's the case because it's never about what actually happened, it's about who are your favourites. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, we all have favourites, but it means reasoned argument is out of the window because it doesn't matter how well the others play as you've already made up your mind.

Sounds like I'm having a go, but I'm not, just suggesting why it may be that your threads attract criticism rather than debate.

I think people question him because they don't know whether he supports "Barnsley"

I thought Morsy was particular poor my of in the second half whether that was fitness or not I'm not sure but he can't play like that.

Scowen chose the wrong option quite a bit but I do enjoy watching him further up the field.

Sam was probably fed up of idiots on the internet slagging him off. He wears his heart on his sleeve.

I think the complete opposite Jay. I think others have favurites and care where they come from and they use it to make excuses. Because a players from Barnet, Halifax or Torquay poeple will say well what do you expect. I expect same from all. Some of what happened tonight especially around the time of the goal in the second half was nothing short of awful.

James Bree's a talented footballer that should be on the way to the top but even he wouldn't try some of what Yiadom was doing. He can see when to give the early pass.

Bree is talented but is very inconsistent, he's been one of them players where he's been excellent one game then poor the next.

Personally he'll more then likely end up like Digby then Holgate/Stones.

I often find HTs posts annoying and when criticism is warranted if he writes rubbish then fair enough and I have criticised as well.

But I have to defend him here because apart from some opinions that others might not agree with, such as dropping Yiadom on Saturday, all HT has done here is put in words his thoughts on yesterday, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Others will do the same today without attracting 4 pages of bile.

I happen to agree with most of what you wrote there HT, although I don't have an opinion on Winnall's lack of celebration because I was too busy giving the finger to the Villa fans ( :) ) and I was gone on the final whistle as I was at the front of the car park (not that it did me any good).

Yiadom is a talented footballer. Exceptionally talented, but for some reason you won't acknowledge that. Bree is too, but at the moment, he's not as consistent as Yiadom. That's basically down to his age and lack of experience, but he does have poor games. You won't acknowledge that, but will pick out every mistake Yiadom makes because Bree is a favourite of yours and Yiadom isn't. I like both players. At the moment Yiadom has the shirt, he's playing very well, so he stays in the team. That doesn't seem to matter to you, you want Bree in the team because he's your favourite and that's why I find it difficult to discuss the game with you. It's not about how they play it's about who they are and you tend to like young players, particularly if they're from a Premiership team.

Winalls apparent non celebration could be down to something simple like maybe he was a bit of a villa fan as a kid. Midlands lad isn't he?

Bree has been around our squad now for a few seasons and for one reason or another (injuries or form) he can't get a run of games. If he can't stay fit long term he will end up down the RNL and Danny Rose path when as you say he should be heading to the top. Yiadom has been one of our very best performers in recent games but I reckon Bree wouldn't have kept backing off for the first goal and get done inside.

Now this is also something I completely agree with. I wonder what the starting 11 of players ostracised by Hemsworth Tyke would be? And who the 11 they were competing for places in the starting lineup with at the time of them being at the club would be. Make an interesting thread.
