Leeds boycott is going well

Sold first batch of tickets awaiting more.

 

1,487, of which the majority will be paying £37. I'm surprised we've sold so many, really thought people would give this one a miss.

 

We had no significant backing. The supporters trust did not back it and the Barnsley Chronicle didn't mention it. Some fans will pay owt so clubs will keep charging it.

 

It's not a point scoring thing I think 37 quid to watch 90 minutes of football is ridiculous. Suprised we have sold that many and still a week left to sell. Usuall sell alot on final week too.

 

I disagree that the majority will have paid £37. Young adults and juveniles have probably bought the most.

 

Daft the lot of em. It's exactly the reason teams keeping ripping off fans.

 

I refuse to pay more to get into a sh1tty ground to fund a deluded owner who spends his money on paying off managers he sacks....

Its equal to what I spent to see BFC x 2 at Wembley! Let that sink in. 2 x Wembley tickets for what 1 championship game in a sh]thole will cost!

im sure thats more than last time we went, was it less than 1000 of us and cheaper prices? it shows that if we win people will pay stupid money to watch football

 

I though we took just under 2k last time was Wilsons 1st game back in charge. But we look set to take over 2k this time.

I agree with dreamy. For this to work we needed exposure and help. Nobody backed it which is fair enough but it's a shame really as until somebody or a club or organisation makes a stand, clubs can just charge what they want. Leeds will charge the same again to us next season now should we meet due to fans agreeing to accept their ticket price.

They will probably raise the ticket price again.

 

Clubs will continue to mug fans because fans are happy to keep being mugged. They demonstrate it week after week. Nothing will ever change.

 

You can't try and organise s boycott the week after tickets have gone on sale it takes serious organisation and exposure.

Got my ticket and can't wait for the game.

You're right about organising a boycott. Takes time and planning.

Sad to be not going myself as can't remember the last time we played at Bellend Road when I wasn't there but a principle is a principle.

 

I'm sure most of them will be Leeds fans that can't get in the sold out home ends... massive club

 

It's not daft though is it.

Yes it's too expensive for a football match but I wanted to go support the football club I love against Leeds.

I knew the tickets would be over priced so I decided not to go to Wolves on the Tuesday night which was £30 and with travel far more expensive than the trip to Elland Road.

If a proper boycott was organised then I would have backed it and many others would. I'd have also gone to Wolves instead.

But to say people are daft is poor as you don't know anyone's reasoning.

What is daft is posting a boycott idea on a message board after 500 tickets have already gone and expecting people to support it.

Next time get the ground work in and arrange it as soon as the fixtures come out.

Reluctantly i have paid silly money to go to weeds, cos i dont want to miss us getting 3 easy points, but if a boycott was organised in advance for say the wendys ( £38 been mentioned) i would certainly boycott swillsboro

 

Boycotting is not the answer imo.
A visible protest by fans in front of media coverage,online campaigns, joint campaign groups with other fans ,protest letters to football organisations ,clubs, mps and various media groups. Is the way to go about it .
Boycotting works on certain campaigns but on these osoccasions it can be divisive with fans in agreement on the principle but don't want to miss games .
I've been involved in numerous campaigns over the years but ones where tactics are not shared are usually doomed to failure and usually strengthens the opposition.
