    Well we did it.

On a scorchingly hot walking day my wife,my brother in law my eldest step daughter and her friend (both just 16) for around the three peaks in 11 hrs and 25 minutes.

Enjoyable and at times challenging day.

Thanks to @andymac and everyone else for their valubale advice.

My first pint never touched the sides I have blisters on blisters however my John Wayne impression is getting better.

    You reds.

It's good walk that one but I haven't done it since 1980. It's certainly a challenge. It sounds like you had a similar day to what we had.
We were a mixed group or 14 to 60 year olds and knocked it of in 9 hours. There was a group of us at Yorkshire Traction who were doing long walks at the time.

You do about 5200 feet of climbing which is about the same as Ben Nevis via Carn Mor Dearg Arete. It's the long walks between the peaks which catch a lot of people out.

Which of the peaks did you find the toughest?

My eldest found Westside tough purely down to the heat and length of walk from PYG to Wernside.

My wife found Ingleborough tough as she hit the wall at this point and her knee was hurting.

They all have different levels of toughness.

PYG was ok. However my wife did help a woman halfway up the scramble who was having an anxiety attack due to vertigo.

Wernside is a long long yet steady climb.

Ingleborough has a tough sheer scamble and that walk back to Horton is longer than you think.

If it was easy it wouldn't be a challenge would it?

I can't personally say which is toughest but my running training has helped my fitness levels and psychologically walking for that length of time has helped me prepare for my marathon.

Good sensible pacing and plenty of hydration were key to getting through yesterday.

We enjoyed it and the young girls were overwhelmed when Mali g the third trig point by their sense of achievement.

I found coming down PYG the toughest, just seemed go on forever and it was demoralising to think there was still two peaks to do. Had a second wind after lunch before Whernside and a third wind after a pint before Ingleborough. Jogged most of the way down Ingleborouh to try and finish in under 10 hours.

I didn't look too far ahead or think too far ahead.
We had two young uns in our group that we had to keep motivated and positive.

That trek is a long one but the burger van stop by the viaduct broke it up. The steady climb up was hard due to the heat.

Whernside looks a an absolute beast on one of these (behind the viaduct). Funnily enough, it IS a beast.

The photo of the people scrambling up Ingleborough does not do it's steepness justice.
