Half time. 2 servers as per. No change at all. So therefore the Oakwell experience continues to be two halves of football divided by the pleasure of a 15 minute queue and the need to neck a pint of lager in yard-of-ale time, so as not to miss too much of the second half. You can employ as many media men as you like, but when I see hundreds of supporters queueing like lemmings for 15 minutes to get served at the half time break, I think that the average supporter would prefer extra hands on the pumps rather than anyone spouting on about how wonderful our club/supporter relationship is. We turn up sometime before 3. We have spare time to buy and socialise and relax between 3.45 and 4. And yet we're treated like we ought to be grateful for having the opportunity to be served refreshments after a quarter of an hour wait. Today this went for those in the non booze queue too. I'm getting a bit obsessed.
In the ESL before the game there seemed to be a few 'suits' milling about monitoring the queue situation , it helped that they didn't have to take the bottle tops off !!
I honestly don't get why people are so desperate to get a $hit bottle or can, that they pay through the nose for. I see people leave 10 mins before half-time, so they can get served. I just don’t get it
Who franchises it out? Is it perfectly acceptable for the club to say "come and pay to watch us play football, but if you want refreshments at half time then we don't give a toss about you -you take your chances with whoever we've sold the rights to"? OK then, I'll shut up.
They represent the club by working within their stadium at their event serving their customers facilitated by the contract signed by the club. Surely there are clauses and stipulations within the contract dictating a minimum level of service. This surely must have been included after a lack of such a stipulation/clause was raised several times when Lindleys were the caterers. Just a point, not shooting the messenger
You were talking about the club employing people in the media team. I was just pointing out that its a different company. I know for a fact that Linton has asked the new concourse stadium manager to look into the issues because I heard him. Probably the reason why the suits you mentioned were observing.
A very good point. I'd forgotten about his media comment which didn't make a whole lot of sense to me either because they are different departments and as you say the budget for one isn't related to the budget for the other (on account of it being paid for by an outside company)
