I thought Brownhill did very well when he came to our club. We'd lost Pearson from our regular midfield line up and Josh Scowen, who was out with a long term injury. He fitted in and made a big contribution to our success. So much so that when Scowen returned from fitness, he was unable to displace him.
I was hoping to see him make the move to Oakwell permanent, and was sad to see him go elsewhere.
However, I have been greatly impressed with Josh Scowen this season, so far. His performances, in my opinion, are of a higher standard than ever before. He's become far more disciplined (not picking up daft bookings, nor giving away any needless free kicks), but he's done so without losing any of his impressive work rate, tenacity, tackling skills & closing opponents down.
Had we signed Brownhill, I don't believe he'd be able to start in the first team in front of Josh.

True! He's certainly got the potential I can't argue that. Can't help but feel he'll not get that guidance down in Bristol.

Wouldn't disagree with any of that at all - sums up my views on Brownhill perfectly too.

I will admit though that the speed that he signed for Bristol did hurt a bit. I think that's the reason a lot of people have a negative view looking back.

Personally speaking, I'll always have a place in my heart for all the players who contributed to our success of last season from January onwards.

most of us realise what he did for us and thank him for that. he'd signed for Bristol City well before he actually left us so his performances were even more remarkable.
