Re: No I should have elaborated and said that neither will labour get back into power or even seriously contend, whoever is in charge, for the rest of my lifetime. They've only bumbled through so far because of people voting for who their dads voted for and because people despise the Tories so much(rightfully in my opinion)
Re: No I think the old politics is dead but the Blairites don't realise that it is. Corbyn pretty mild left is an ideal candidate to lead a rainbow coalition of Lavbour/Greens/LibDem/Plaid and possibly the SNP. Whether this can be achieved with a gerrymandered boundary change, an outdated political system and a rump of hard right Labour MPs infiltrating the party I don't know.
Re: No I agree. In my opinion the only way that there'll be a labour prime minister in the foreseeable future is as the head of a left of centre coalition. In that case it is more likely with Corbyn as leader. I'm not a Corbyn or Smith fan btw, but I dismay how the country doesn't have a credible opposition at a time when after Brexit the incumbent government was in turmoil.
Re: No Then we really are ******...I've met Owen on numerous occasions with work. He's a nice if somewhat dull chap. I like him but he will appeal to no one and is more of the same Blairite experiment. Also whoever is Labour leader needs to embrace Brexit. Like you I feel it is a mistake but the majority of working class people don't so it needs to be accepted and pushed forward. Smith will shrilly shaky and drag his feet alienating more Labour supporters.
Re: No Owen Smith needs broadcast his anti brexit position. I genuinely believe that since the out campaign have been proven to be less than friendly with.the truth the in campaign. Would win another poll Owen Smith can help save the country
Re: No No! Not within a change in the first past the post voting system. I can't see anything other than a Tory government for the foreseeable future. It's very sad.
I'm a labour member now and will vote labour entirely because of Corbyn along with lots of people I know so you're talking **** again.
Switch from the Tories did you? Snatching a bunch of existing lefties from the Lib Dems or Greens isn't going to win an election for Labour. Good to hear from you again though. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-election-opposition-owen-smith-a7237736.html
Your point was that no one would vote labour because of him. I am living proof they will. Nice job changing the goal posts, mind. Nice to chat again too! I do look forward to being condescended to by your delightful self.
he will be popular with those already of the same mind set but IMHO he hasn't got a snowballs chance in hell of winning a general election. disclaimer: These are my own opinions I obviously have no way of seeing into the future and so full accept that other people will have different opinions, so am happy to wait until the next general election to see who is right!
Re: he will be popular with those Love it ! It is getting to that level on here. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are 'talking ****'. It just means they have a different opinion.
My previous answer of No was wrong The answer is; Yes they do have a future whoever is leader, as the permanent Opposition. For the reasons given in my other post.
Re: he will be popular with those What he said was provably false thus he was talking **** it's not a case of agreeing or disagreeing.
