It's been our biggest goalscoring haul in the first 6 games of a season (14) since 1999/2000 season (15) when we finished 4th with 82 points (a higher points haul than when we finished 2nd in 1996/1997) outscoring everyone by 9 goals over the entire season with 88 in total.

Before that, we also matched the 14 goals in the opening six fixtures of this season in...the promotion season 1996/1997.

The firepower we have at the minute is the best we've had for nearly 20 years. There's no reason why we can't dream of having another fairytale happen this season. It's not like clubs haven't had back to back promotions from League One to the Premier League before (Southampton, Norwich, Man City).

Not sure that I'd want another season in the Premiership; which personally, I can't stand.
The last excursion only bankrupted us, with a real risk of closure and after all it's not really our natural home.

I see where you're coming from, but I'm sure that with the current club setup and management, we wouldn't make those same mistakes again.

Agree with you about the Premier League, over-hyped, over-paid and over-blown. I much prefer to watch La Liga.

My recipe for making a success of the Greed League

    1) Get promoted
    2) Spend nowt
    3) Get relegated
    4) Tek the 150 million quid and run!

No point us carrying on if the dream isn't to play top flight football. It wasn't premiership that put us in Admin it was budgeting for the ITV Digital money that never arrived like we expected it to.

We'd be sorted for an absolute age if we won promotion with the money involved in the Prem and our current management. Nothing to be worried about.

The Premier league didn't nearly bankrupt us, spending well above our means didn't.

John Hendrie on 14k a week being one example.

    God almighty. Live the dream.
If we were to make the prem enjoy it.
I believe we are a championship level side.
That should mean the odd top flight excursion and the odd trip to the ale league.
Sounds ok to me. We were Div 4 in 1974 when i started supporting.

On the one hand I'd love to see us getting to the Prem, playing the top teams, and maybe even having a tilt at Europe, but at the same time the soul of the club would be eaten by all the things we hate about football.

I hope we make it to the Prem. A smaller club like us would put a bit of heart back in the game.

That's the dilemna isn't it? One that most teams supporters will never be lucky enough to have the way things are going.

I follow Everton as my second team. Have done since the early-mid nineties. On the rare occasion I attend games there you can just feel the difference within the clubs. One's been in the Premier since it's inception and it's supporters don't really know the meaning of a fairytale football story. I wouldn't want us to go the same way whereby we expect perennial success. It would take the magic away from seasons like the last, which for me was the greatest season in living memory.

It's now been our best goalscoring start to a season since 1950/51 when we had also scored 18 goals in the first 7 games.

See where you are coming from but cant agree. We have to try and win the league otherwise whats the point

Also whilst I detest the Prem and all it stands for I think our current management will have learned from past mistakes of themselves and others and not change anything. If we finish up being a yoyo team for a few seasons that would be fine by me.

But its still a bit like a Wednesday forum on here - we have had a great start to the season and who knows we might keep it up but promotion is a long way off. Another trip to Wembley would be nice though

Yes. Not like the 2 highest paid footballers in the world play in la liga?

That's true, but outside of Barca and Real Madrid, there are very few such players.
