Was always going to be a struggle today with this cloud cover. Looks like its going to get sunnier as the week goes on so think we are in trouble.

    No it's not.

What I'd like to know is where are Root and Bairstow? England games are finished till October 7th now aren't they?

Bairstow hasn't played much cricket this summer so should have been allowed to play. Had we been allowed to play Root after his busy 2016 he'd have had very little time to have a break and let his body recover before Bangladesh.

I think batting wicket will be better tomorrow. Not looking good...

Ah well, we are third in the Championship. A while since I've been able to say that.

You don't know a good score until both teams have batted.

Really? Is it that much hard work effortlessly stroking the ball to the boundary?

Exactly. All out for 145 but we could have them at 45 for 5 by close of play. Who knows. More than once this season Yorkshire have started a match badly but ended up getting something out of it in the end. Need to get Trescothick out cheaply.

Middlesex going well at Old Trafford.

I think I read somewhere that the ECB wouldnt let them play wanting them both to have a break before the tour starts
though I might have that wrong and it could just be the players themselves that wanted a break
