They haven't sold out. I've posted a link in this thread to where Villa fans can still buy tickets for Oakwell.
There's such a disparity between the two now though that there's tons of wiggle room for a flexi ticket. STs have being advertised as being around £14 a game whereas match tickets are between £23 and £36 (£25 and £38 non pay in advance although of course a flexi ticket would be in advance). There's no reason that they can't do bundles that equate to £20 a game. It would have probably been better had they not done the category rates but if would still work even so, it would just be up to the supporter to decide if they want to use it for the best possible saving each time or use it for cheaper ones if that's what they can attend so only making a small saving. £100 for 5 vouchers to be redeemed against any home match. They could even limit it to only one category A* if they wanted although that would make it far less popular. Or, they could possibly do £100 for four matches (no category restrictions) which could make some games slightly more expensive but that would be up to the supporter to price up the options and decide whether it would be worthwhile or not depending on the games they fancy.
The only problem with this is that a good number of full season ticket holders might choose this option therefore it negates it's positives
I'm sick to death of this. Season Ticket deals continually being pushed when there's a section of support, unavailable for enough games, who are crying out for a flexi-ticket. When will they get it into their thick skulls, that not everyone can be turned into a season ticket holder.
Practicalities are straightforward. You sell multiples of 3/4/5/6/7 or whatever number you choose you receive vouchers say 7 for 140 quid then redeem then for Any available seat at any match if your choice (subject to availability). Done at quite a few clubs.
I doubt it as most people who are going to get a season ticket will have bought one by now and also someone who wants, and is available, to go to every match isn't going to give up a season ticket for the sake of just 4 games that will work out more expensive than the ST anyway and then be stuck paying full price for the rest of them.
I'm sure some people may have gone to Rotherham as their first game of the season and enjoyed it, and this incentive might further encourage them to get a season ticket. Oakwell won't be rocking if people pick up flexi tickets instead of season tickets and give Burton, Blackburn etc a miss. So basically the club stand to lose around £10 per game compared to individual tickets? Bet they're falling over themselves to do that.
Not to forget the other key point, it gives the club the money up front to allow budgeting for the season ahead. There have been so many well thought out versions of this put forward on here and to the club over the years. Hopefully the new hierarchy will do something. A lot of good progress has been made over the last couple of years but this issue is a glaring omission. But I think the window for it working this year is quickly closing. If not already.
The one that starts and ends with the club owner who's been with us over a decade. Some think that changes at board level like Rowing to Mansford to Brown makes a lot of difference. End of the day if they had an idea Patrick didn't like it wouldn't happen, no idea would as it's his company.
I can go to around 10 games per season, but as things stand I'll be lucky to attend 5. I can only go to games when work allows and I won't go to any games where the admission price is more than £25. You work out how much they are losing from people like me.
whats wrong with them doing these deals exactly? they are paying the same price as you did at the start of the season if the club want to do so be it if people take the offer then great if they dont then it doesnt matter the club isnt missing out if anything they are gaining more as long as the offer doesnt make it better for the go when they can supporters then its fine with me
No they gain 20 quid from people who will not pay daft prices. When you have exhausted one revenue stream you then look at ideas on maximising another. It's not hard to grasp.
These sort of deals don't work because you have to be able to go to ALL the games. The deals need to be FLEXIBLE.
