Doing the Yorkshire three peaks in Saturday September 17th.
With my wife and step daughter and brother in law to help raise funds for her Peru trip.
25 miles of walking in God's finest back garden.

Am I having a mid life crisis?

I remember once being a fat lad couch potato.

Best wishes! I did it four years ago, starting from Ribblehead and working round the order Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent. It took me exactly twelve hours. Twenty-six miles of walking and 5,300 aggregate feet of ascent. The hardest part was descending over the limestone slabs from Ingleborough to Horton-in-Ribblesdale: rough on the old knees. Best bit - the last part after climbing Penyghent, going back over the beautifully spongey peat on the Ribble Way, which was not as muddy as the Pennine Way. Raised a good chunk of money for charity. I hope it goes well with you. On Saturday, I will think of you, as I will be climbing the Kymin just south of Monmouth.

Think the boggy spongey peat has been replaced recently with a designated path but it adds to the walk as it is a slight detour.

Hoping to do it under 12 hours.

Best wishes to you on the walk.

Have a look at my website www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk if you have time and are interested in walking. There's a walk tracking feature on there which we used on the recent walk to Huddersfield. It will let you family and friends track your progress as you walk, so they can see where you are on the day.

Once again, good luck with your mid-life crisis walks!

I'd still prefer the spongey peat - it's kinder on your joints.

Good luck. Am doing it this Saturday, traditional route, PyG, W, I. 4th time in 5 years. Cos I am daft, I am cycling up from Bingley to Horton-in-R before walking.

Not sure why I am posting this to be honest.....

For info, you can do old or new path down PyG but you are encouraged to take new.

    Again, good luck.

I always wanted to do the 3 Peaks when I was younger and 30 milers were fun. 30 years later and I still haven't got around to it. I really must get it done!
